I remembe when people used to try to get their kids to eat spinach by talking about Popeye the Sailor Man who ate a can of spinach whenever he was in trouble and needed his muscles. Now canned spinach isn't really that great. Maybe that's why it took a lot of encouraging, prompting, bribing, threatening to get the kids to eat it. But I like to buy fresh spinach and throw it into my salads. My my 9 year old granddaughter has developed a lot for the raw spinach now. I bought a bag yesterday and she asked me yesterday if she could have some because she does like to eat it when I have it. Of course I told her she could When I checked the bag today to make a green smoothie it was 2/3rds gone! Oh well, I'll share with her LOL!
I tried green smoothie today with frozen peaches, some protein powder, a cup of spinach, and of course little ice thrown in the blender because I like it thick. It was really good! So that is my healthy lunch today because I had big breakfast. So many more things I can try with smoothies! I've made them before with the protein poweder, a little water, a little ice, and frozen or fresh fruits but this is the first time with the spinach. Definitely a keeper! If my granddaughter leaves me any at least.
