In Repeat Mode

Thursday, April 12, 2012

For the last several months, my body has been in a terminal loop. I struggle to lose a few pounds and then have a meltdown and gain it all back.

Admittedly, there's a lot happening in my life - part time care giver for my mum, commuting 300 miles between her and where I live weekly, starting a new business, etc.

But, I get in a groove and then one thing happens - could even be good - and I fall prey to the old demons.

I hope that you are doing better. It sounds as if you are under a good deal of stress. It can be difficult to prioritize doing good things for yourself when you must dedicate so much time to others. Best wishes in the balancing act!

Being a caregiver is so difficult. I applaud you for even trying. You are awesome!

I identify with a lot of what you said. My mom cared for my Grandma with Alzheimer's in our house for about a year, and I know firsthand what a difficult and demanding task that is. And my weight loss has stalled about a year now. If ever you need to talk or vent know I am here for you! *hugs*

Sorry to hear you're going through so much. It may be discouraging, but it sounds like you're basically maintaining if you're able to stop the gain and lose it again. I think you're doing great for not letting it get out of control during this time. It's so easy to get off track, so I sympathise.

I'm so sorry, Carrie. The toll of being a part-time caregiver for a parent is huge; it's rough physically, mentally and emotionally. Add to that the stress of starting a new business and all the rest of life, both good and not so good, and it's hard to NOT fall back into old ways at least temporarily. Hang in there; you'll find a way to break out of the cycle for good.

Hey, better to repeat than to sink and not swim! :-)

Been kinda on the same track and although it's not as gratifying as soaring with the eagles, it beats the alternatives!
