Holy Crap, I Seriously Need to Update!

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

I did NOT realize that it has been over a year since I last posted a blog! Bad, BAD Beth! LOL

So much has happened! I ended up going to a physical therapy for my abdominal cramping and that was what fixed it. It turned out my muscles were super tight AND that I have a tilted pelvis. After 3 months of PT, it was completely gone! I'm so glad that's over! Now for "maintenance" I do yoga. I do it at home on the Wii Fit and I love it!!

Of course, I wish that was the end and I could say that was the end of it and everything is all better, but sadly it is not. emoticon I was noticing my tummy was acting up right before my birthday so I contacted my gastric bypass doctor and his office scheduled an endoscopy for me. It revealed that I had a HUGE ulcer! It was a half inch in diameter which is really big when your tummy is really small. So I was prescribed a couple of meds and followed everything to the letter. 2 months later I had the follow up endoscopy and the ulcer was completely healed! The doctor and my husband were both shocked but I wasn't. LOL I knew I had done everything possible to ensure it was healed.

Is that the end yet? NOPE! The thing I'm dealing with right now that I'm working on getting under control is headaches. The last 3 months now I've been waking up to one and going to bed with one. Definitely makes it hard to work out. I had an MRI yesterday and of course it said my brain is normal. Me?? A normal brain? LOL Also, a friend of mine also told me about something called "the headache diet" so I'm working on that with some meds the neurologist is having me try. One way or another, I'll get this figured out! I did work out today and I felt great when I started but my head was pounding by the time I finished my yoga. I just want these headaches gone!!

Of course in the middle of all this I'm working on purging myself of being on meds and relying on diet and supplements to manage my symptoms. My goal is to be off of all pharmacuticals by the year's end and only be taking supplements. I know with the help of my chiropractor that it can definitely be done.

However, the last year hasn't been all bad! My hubby and I are doing great and I have been able to maintain the majority of my weight loss. I did go back up to 187 pounds but I feel considering all, that's not bad and I know I will reach my goals! It's just a matter of being strict with my intake and start over with working out again and working my body back up to where I was. I tend to bounce back pretty quickly so it won't take me long. With our taxes we got an Xbox bundled with the Kinnect so I got both Zumba games and I LOVE it! It gives me as good a workout as a class and I can change it up any way I like! It's also more accurate since the Xbox tracks your every move so I notice I tend to move more to make the Xbox happy and to get a higher rating. LOL I'm also working on getting my personal trainer certification finished so then I can go on and get my Zumba certification and start WORKING! I am so, so sick of sitting on my butt!

So there's my update!! I hope everyone is having a great day! I missed you all!!

Great job on all of your hard have a lot to be proud of!

I have a few suggestions for you...for your headaches...I personally hardly ever get them, except for lately. For me, it's usually because I'm dehydrated, or stressed (I tend to hunch up my shoulders to my neck, which causes the headache), or spending too much time in front of the computer (which I've been doing lately, ever since I joined SP, LOL)! My remedy, before I pop any meds, is to get off the laptop, drop my shoulders out of my ears, slam a big bottle of water, and eat a banana. I think the potassium in it helps somehow. If I still have a headache after a couple hours, then I will take some Tylenol. I've also found that any food with MSG or a lot of sodium tend to trigger my headaches, so I try to make as many meals from scratch as possible, and we very rarely ever eat out at a restaurant. I personally have not stepped foot into a McDonald's in almost 3 years!

Anyway, keep up the good're doing great! I love all the smiles in your pics! emoticon

    Welcome back! emoticon

So sorry to hear about your ulcer. Did you ever find out what the cause of it was? Stress? Diet? (spicy foods) Happy it is all healed and taken care of now. Regarding your headaches, I went through a similar situation a few years back. Headaches that didn't go away and lasted 2-3 months. I also had an MRI and all kinds of tests. Nothing. But what I am thinking is I was under ALOT of stress about 3-4 month before all this started. Then I got a really bad sinus infection and was on like 3 different antibiotics trying to get rid of the pressure. It's possible that between the stress and all the meds I was taking, that the headaches were a side effect. I just wanted to suggest this to you as a possibility. My doctor is always quick to prescribe meds as an answer to everything! I was probably on 4-5 different things at that time. Once I weaned myself off everything. It took another couple weeks, but the pressure and the headaches finally went away. I don't know if you suffer from allergies or sinus problems, I never did until I moved out here to the central valley. But they will definately cause headaches if not treated properly. I take a 24 hr allergy pill and use a sinus nasal spray when they bother me. But I would think your headaches could definately be a side effect of meds. Cause unless you have done an extreme diet change in the last few months, I seriously doubt it is diet related. Oooooh and one more thing I just thought of. Have you recently started using air fresheners? Like a scented plug-in or an automatic scented air mister, room spray? I get headaches from those. Can't use em at all.

You mention seeing a chiropractor. I have seen about 3 different chiropractors back when I was in a car accident years ago. If you have a pinched nerve, it could also be causing you headaches. However, I did notice that if I went to the chiropractor too often. I didn't benefit from the treatment and instead would get headaches and not feel good. So I am for them, but also still very leery of going too regularly. Just be careful.

Excellent job on maintaining your weight loss! emoticon I wish I could say the same. I had lost weight and 2 years later it found me. I can only blame myself. I've always been an emotional eater, and whenever a stressful situation arises I cave and get depressed and lose all motivation and focus. I ended up putting 25 of the lbs I lost back on. So I am back on Spark to say goodbye to them once and for all and invite all their friends to take a permanent vacation as well. emoticon

Good luck with your certifications! You can do it!! emoticon

Keep in touch and let me know how you're doing. emoticon
