The Home Gym just got a new member!

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Last night I bought my reward for getting back in the size 8s! I will say, they're still a little tight, but they fit!!

So I bought a 3-pair weight set I've been wanting -- the sets are 3 lbs, 5 lbs, and 8 lbs. The home gym is getting pretty big now!

Here are the new weights:

The resistance bands I got for Christmas:

The pilates book and loose DVDs I've collected:

And the rest of my DVD library:

The stepper and push-up bars I bought on Ebay last year:

...and here is my entire home gym, including the stability ball I bought for myself when I first joined Sparkpeople!

Getting pretty impressive, no? I would love to have a stationary bike or elliptical, but so far I've got a lot of equipment and assistance tools that fit easily into one corner of the apartment...and now includes weights!

Your home gym looks wonderful! How nice to be able to work out, no matter what the time or weather!

If you are interested in additional equipment, you might consider signing up with It is a mailing list, and you register for the one(s) that are most geographically convenient for you. If you want to get rid of something, you post it to the list and all members get an email. Anyone can reply to request the offered item, and you can select the person who gets it. You can arrange pickup at a neutral or public location (I used to take items to work and leave them in my trunk; the freecycler would call from the parking lot when they arrived).

I got a treadmill, basic stair stepper, and a Nordic Track (since handed on to someone else), from freecycle members. Also several aquariums (aquaria?) for a local preschool program. There are list guidelines, but the most basic is that items are offered for FREE, no charge, no exchange. The "cost" is having to sort through the email messages.

Have fun, and congratulations on your return to size 8!

Watch craigslist for that bike or elliptical, now is about the time all those New Year resolutions hit the curb!

    Oooh, fun!

Portability is so nice, so be glad you don't have a bulky bike/machine/etc. =)

I think that corner should be dubbed "the toy box"! :D

That's what I say I need ==weights but I can actually use a resistance band for the weights. I WOULD love a set of 7s however (at my gym they are PURPLE!!)

Great gym! And great job rewarding yourself! It is so important!

I love working out at home! I'm with you on the wish for a large piece of cardio equipment, but it would probably just spoil me and keep me from going outside if the weather was crummy. Not have one has taught me to go outdoors in all weather conditions. I don't like to, but I CAN do it!

I love getting new stuff for my home gym! I recommend saving up for a Liebert Equalizer. It's a multipurpose pair of bars that you can use as a dip station (for tricep dips) but SO many other things. It's about $100 but totally worth it! It's my newest addition to my home gym!

    Very nice :)

You can get treadmills that fold up too, then it wouldn't take up too much of your floor space when you're not using it - but, the nice weather is coming! You could get outside too. Happy exercising!

That's awesome - I love my home gym. It's more affordable than most people think and way cheaper than paying for a gym membership month after month.
