CRISIS PREVENTION INTERVENTION CLASS

I did finish my class last night. Other than a few sore muscles things went very well. One of the people in my department was in the class and we bounced off each other basically to do the practice moves that you would do. There was also a rather Burly guy from one of the local middle schools that was also there and he was very helpful to do moves with. I just hope if I had to use it I would / could remember the moves they did. When I was thinking about it this morning alot of the moves they used almost reminded you of dance steps of sort. Not being a dancer its hard to have timing exactly right and this was a test lab environment too. That being said it is done and not needed again for about two more years. Hopefully as I said I will never have to use it but you always have to be prepared. Also learned some fascinating information from one of the local middle school people I never knew. The funny part at the end was you had to score the class from 1 to 5 and somehow I mis-read it and I ended up circling alot of 1's and 2's thinking that was the best rating and it was opposite and the lady said to me "Are you really rating us this badly??" and I laughed and said "Oh my gosh did I mis-read it?" So I had to change it to the right ratings. Talk about your worst expectations. At least with some of the difficult children I feel more prepared to deal with it than just that normal reaction when children act out. The lady who is also new this past year to their school district and department also had done child care but more recently than I had and I said "Its so much easier with the smaller ones," in that kind of setting as you can actually just pick them up.
