5K Pix and Thoughts

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

This is during the 5K I walked on Saturday..

This is my view about half a mile in - at the very back of the pack. I'm behind the oldest participants and behind a double stroller AND a triple stroller with twin babies and a 1.5 year old boy who ran faster than I walked.

I decided I wasn't happy being in the very very back. I mean, I was dead last and I didn't like that even though I may have been the heaviest person in the race. I was able to move up to get ahead of a lot of the folks near the back. I jogged some of it. I improved my time from 78 minutes earlier in the week to 62 minutes which included off trail stops hunting for a bathroom.

A pretty spot on the 5K trail.

self picture taken near the beginning.. determined.

My son right before his race. He ran the 1/2 mile course of the Kid's Run and earned a medal. He's very proud of this! (this one is a repeat post)

Proud of my personal accomplishments of completing the race and improving my time. I never lost faith that I could do it.

Yeah, it might be a little tough on the self-confidence level being at the back of the pack.... but looking at the positive, you were there doing it, you pushed yourself to go faster, you finished & your son was involved in the fun :) Great job & great pics!

I love how being in a group doing a 5k, we can end up pushing ourselves more than we do on our own.

Hooray that both you and your son had a great time!
