Excuses are Tempting

Monday, April 09, 2012

Excuses are tempting when they seem so real. The last month I've spent recovering from a few illnesses and my energy is still not at 100%. I know this is an excuse. How do I know? Well, I'm not dead and I'm not hospitalized so for me, this is an excuse. Excuses are tempting for me, easy out to use my diagnosis as an epileptic with unpredictable seizures as an excuse. The "what if's" begin to creep in and suddenly I have to take charge and turn my thoughts around. We are all in charge of our own thoughts. Yes, it can be difficult initially and it does get easier as you allow yourself to consider the ease of controlling your thoughts and actions. Come on, people do it every day! They put away the self pity and the excuses and they go for whatever they have set before them. You can too!! You see nothing set before you? Clear your vision. If you had nothing set before you, you would not be on SparksPeople. So clear your vision and jump right in. No more excuses! Excuses are tempting, but when was giving into temptation a positive move? emoticon

KAYZAKCX - I learned years ago I had the power of choice and once I chose to take positive action, life took a shift and I have experienced more positive than negative. Now I can actually see where there is negative in my life and my thoughts and I know I have the power to change those into positives. This power really helps with seizure management. I've also taken the responsibility of helping others adapt to seizure disorder in their lives both online and offline. This keeps me focused on positive happenings and keeps me healthy at the same time emoticon

Good observation. It is quite uplifting when you take charge of your thoughts and ignore the tempting excuses. Giving into excuses, on the other hand, can lead to self defeating behviors that just feed on themselves and grow. I know this from my own experience.
