Technically I think my first pregnant race was the Hot Chocolate race in February, but I didn't really feel pregnant back then, and I had yet to experience the fatigue and nausea! So today counts as my first really pregnant race!
The Hot Chocolate run was the last time I ran more than 5 minutes in a row, so it had REALLY been a while. I tried to keep up with my walking and short spurts of jogging during the first months of pregnancy, but it was just so hard for me for a while. Luckily things have changed and running finally seems like a fun activity again!
So I ran a 5K with my running club this morning. I was prepared to do a combo walk/jog race, hoping for a time around 40 minutes or so. I am happy to report that I ran the entire thing and didn't feel the need to walk at all! There's really something to be said for the adrenaline of a large race environment by a beautiful lake on a cool morning. I felt the best I've felt in WEEKS! I was so happy to finish in a little over 35 minutes. I really hope this provides me with the kick start I need to get back on the running bandwagon!
