Holy week has been a week of emotions and prayer. This year an Agape love feast dinner was added before the Holy Thursday service. There were foods representative of a Seder with explanations of each food, and a theatre group scripture reading presentation. I'm very thankful that the parishioners, knowing of my diabetic and allergic dietary challenges, made special vegetable soup with vegetables low on the glycemic scale.
Onto the challenge of Easter, with the starchy foods and desserts. The family is coming and bringing the traditional green bean casserole and pudding cake! As chief cook I am able to place steamed broccoli and cauliflower on the menu. Have tried to make some desserts that are not tempting. Plain greek yogurt and blueberries will be on the table.
But, I'll never be able to cook anything unless I can get into the grocery store. After 20 minutes in the ShopRite parking lot I gave up. It will be another trip there later today.
Looking forward to Church tomorrow and celebrating redemption. Hoping all my Christian friends are having a blessed Easter week.
