Everything tastes extremely salty???? Does anyone else have this problem?

Saturday, April 07, 2012

Here lately everything I eat or drink tastes super salty, even bottled water. I don't know what the deal is but it's making it a little hard for me to enjoy eating/drinking anything. Fruit doesn't have the salty taste and neither does milk (Soy Milk) but everything else is pretty nasty to me. I don't crave salty foods and never have enjoyed things like potato chips or salty french fries. I don't know what is going on, but I hope it goes away soon. Does anyone else have this problem or am I just being weird?

I have found that when my diet gets more pure with fruit and veggies, then I can really taste the salt in anything! Bottled water gets salt added to it many times. I like using the Brita filter. Also, I found on Amazon a pitcher that allows you to steep fruit in the middle. Sometimes I'll use cut up fresh lemons or other fruit, and you can also use frozen fruit. It tastes delish!

Tammie, there is a virus of some type going around that causes everything including plain old water, to taste salty. It does pass, but it hangs around for a couple of weeks, getting better as time goes on. Several people on two of the teams I'm on have had it. One of them also complained about being overly tired too.... If it continues, and you can find no other reason for it, I'd bet you've picked that up someplace. Just remember to drink anyhow so you don't dehydrate. One of the gals said she could drink part of a glass of icy cold almost frozen fruit juice, but the others said nothing worked, they just had to drink it. Good luck....

I might get one of the Brita filters, I've been looking at them for awhile. They have the individual bottles with the filters too, I have really been thinking about getting one for work. Thanks for the idea.

I too have been experiencing this but I think it is because I am more aware of what I am eating while I am eating it Before I might just gobble something down without even tasting it. Now I can really taste the salt. I had to get a Brita filter as I could not stand our water. It has helped!

It sounds suspicious to me. You can Google "everything tastes salty" and find some possibilities of what might be going on. I tried it, and there are lots of possible causes. Let us know what you find out!
