Light and Dark

Saturday, April 07, 2012

I've been thinking about light and dark and shadows lately . This is one of those topics that I know will be with me for the rest of my life. I love the thought that there is no darkness at all in God. There is absolutely nothing that can be hidden from Him because light and dark are one and the same with Him. The shadows that hide things from us obscure their true form or play tricks on our minds making us think they are something that they are not. Not so with God. He can reveal to us what is there. He can reveal even the thoughts and motives of others to us. He can reveal to us our own true thoughts and motives when they are hidden to even ourselves. We often times wonder why we do the things we do when those thoughts and real reasons for our behavior have been pushed so deeply within the shadows of our hearts that even we cannot see them any more. Everything is laid naked and bare before Him. There are no secrets that He does not know. At this time of year we often think of the crucifixion and what it means to us. Two of my favorite thoughts concerning this is that all the decrees, or legal edicts, that were against us were nailed to the cross with His hands and feet. At the cross He took away the power of Satan to hurt us any more. He gladly went to the cross because of the joy of being reunited with us. The joy was not in the nails and thorns and whips, but it was worth every bit of it to have our relationship restored. The darkness was no longer as dark as it had been. It no longer has the power to envelope us in fear. Let Him reveal the truth of how absolutely nothing is hidden from Him and He will reveal it to us as well. But first we must come to the cross.

Well said! We have much to be thankful as we celebrate what He has done for us.
