I've been accepted to the 2012 Dana-Farber Race Team for the Falmouth Road Race 10K August 12, 2012!
My fundraising goal is $1,500 but I fully intend on blowing that out of the water. I will have a donation website set up at the end of April so keep a look out for that!
I have NEVER been a 'runner'. I ran the 55M Dash and the 200M Relay in High School. The longest official race I ran was an 800M at the Mass. State Girls Pentathlon...we'll just say I didn't finish first that's for sure.
I ran the Warrior Dash last summer which is a 5K but it can hardly be 'run'...it's more like hiking. I finished that with a VERY respectable time though.
Needless to say I'm going to need some advice as I am a total 'running' newbie! I've never liked it but I've never hated it either...
Someone at school said to me "I didn't know you were a runner?"...my reply was "I'm not, but I'll become one for a good cause!".
So that is my attitude towards this whole thing - I think it is going to be an awesome experience and I'm looking forward to all of the different types of support that I am going to receive from both the spark world and the 'outside' world.
I've googled 8 week training plans but does anyone know of any specific to a 10K that has worked well for them?
