I Fell into a burning hole..

Saturday, April 07, 2012

Ok, well it has been awhile since I have been on SparkPeople. I tried everything under the sun to kick start my weight loss and nothing worked! I went to the gym 3x a week and worked out for at least 1 1/2 hours each time, watched my food intake...Nothing...not even 1/2 inch lost. So as with all my other attempts I succumed to depression. I had fallen into a burning hole of depression and I knew something had to be done, and fast!
Gastric Weight Loss Surgery..or Death!
I did some Youtube research about the Rouen Y Gastric Bypass (sp?) and although completly and totally terrified I agreed to have it. It was the surgery or my legs. I was/am a diabetic Type 2 and already my legs were always swollen and extremily painful-sometimes to the touch. I desperatly feared having my legs amputated and because my family would be ill equipted to care for me, put in a nursing home.
My surgen and his Staff all asked me if I had a familial support system as this would aid in my recovery. I said yes, I did. This was later proven not entirely true.

Yes we have a visiting nurse program but your doctor must call to set it up. I am doing fine, everyone tells me I am loosing weight but I dont see it. Anyway, I shall overcome whatever is thrwn at me, as I always have.

Wow, this must be a scary time. Do you have a visiting nurse program in your area? I know there are programs out there for in home care at costs that go according to your income. I wish you well and full recovery. Stay on with Spark for support. I will be here.
