An interesting exercise idea - its free!

Happy Easter to my Christian friends,

It is so nice to be off work today and I am using that time to do lots of little things that have been piling up around me. First I swept the mounds of dog fur that somehow seems to accumulate in our living room on a daily basis. I'm sure any dog owner can undertand! emoticon

Then I pulled out a pile of magazines that have built up over the winter and went through them and pulled out a bunch of easy, tasty, and healthy recipes that didn't seem too intimidating. The magazines themeselves are now ready to bring to the senior's home where mom lives.

Then I put on the dishwasher which is humming away and doing my dishes as we speak. Now if it would only put them away for me. Hmm......calling all inventor's out there!

I've got a turkey thawing in the basement fridge for Sunday, I've got my grocery list written up for tomorrow and I have my exercise planned out for today.

Oh, and I am taking a few minutes to Spark. Which is where, I might add, that I came across the inspriration for today's blog. Today I was inspired by a fellow TeddyBear who goes by the SparkName of YIWEN39.

She wrote a blog about walking in place while watching your favouorite television show. I don't watch a lot of television and to honest when I do I seem to use it as an excuse to eat emoticon so this might really help me. The Big Bang Theory might be even more enjoyable to me when I exercise during it. Maybe I could start off slow and vow to exercise during the first and third commercial breaks. Who knows where this could lead? And who says it has to be limited to walking in place. Why not dig out a few hand weights? I could do that with my lower back problem and it wouldn't be too much trouble.

Anyway, have a great weekend all. I'm off to do some more tidying in my life!

I like to do step-ups when I am watching tv in the evening. I take the tallest fanny lifter step and do step ups for about 20 minutes. After a good 5-7 minute warm up I grab my little 3 lb weights and do some light upper body exercises and really get a good cardio/toning workout. I drop the weights the last 3 minutes and cool down then stretch out when I'm done. I burn a lot of calories in 20 minutes and get in a cardio workout that seems like a bonus since I don't feel like I'm working hard as I watch tv or a movie, but when I'm done I'm sweating!
Oh, and I know what you mean about the animal hair! I have 2 cats and a dog and that adds up to a bunch of fur floating around!

    Great Susan!
I grab a skipping rope and jump for the commercials, but I have to be so careful that I don't hit anything (LOL).
Hugs,
Angela

I'm cleaning up cat fur, the never-ending dust from liquefaction silt (it's windy so it's worse!) and trying to move stored things off the floor so that the new lino and carpet can come some time next week. The dishwasher is loaded (only 2 of us!), the clothes washer too and I'll soon be off to bed to read. I found some Leslie Sansone walking videos on the internet (the DVDs won't play in this part of the world) and I sometimes do some of her routines when watching tv. They aren't complicated so I can manage to do them and watch at the same time! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Sweeping fur is an endless job here too, but as much as I grumble, I still wouldn't trade my pets for a clean house! Sounds like a good exercise trick, let us know how it works for you!! Happy Easter!

The dog fur is never ending! I thnk we should get exercise points everytime we have to sweep it up! lol I like the idea of walking in place while watching tv. That would have definitely come in handy for me this past week since I have been staying inside due to bronchitis. My doc told me no walking the pup outside as it really aggravates my lungs. Have a wonderful Easter weekend with family and friends! emoticon emoticon

That is the one thing I don't miss living without a pet -the massive amounts of fur. Mom has a long haired cat and that stuff just goes floating everywhere, not to mention all the hair the long haired owners leave around too ;) Getting a strand of long hair wrapped around my fingers is no fun when trying to wash up in the restroom!!
You need a dishwasher for just two people? Wow! We have never had one in our lives, none of my family has one -although its one of the first things my nephew wanted in his new house -I love washing dishes, drying and putting them away -keeps me in motion and satisfaction of a job well done -I suspect those dishwashers don't always get things as clean as handwashing as some of my experience of dirty restaurant dishes shows.
The turkey sounds fabulous! Mom is making up shish kabobs for our family meal for a change.. with pineapple and peppers yummy!
One of the first things Sparks suggested for people new to exercise was to try it in front of their TV to get started as that is where they spent a lot of time. The smart ones plunked down a bike or something in front of it to make sure they couldn't avoid it. Giving up TV was one of the best things I did for myself. It also controlled the snack monster as that is where I used to snack heavy in front of. Another idea is use a swiss ball -passively gets your core worked and no sweating (and is good for a bad back)!
Good luck with it! Hope you have a fabulous long weekend of fun with your DH and doggies!
Hugs,
Linda

Must be the day for house cleaning - I'm doing that and laundry until heading out for Easter Bunny picture duty.

I have thought about the exercising during commercials too and need to put those thoughts into action. Love the Big Bang Theory - one of mine and youngest son's favorites to watch together.

Happy Easter!
