Small Beginnings

Friday, April 06, 2012

Don't despise small beginnings. That's something I think many of us here have down pat. We know that it is the smaller things that add up to the big things we are looking for. A single change no matter how small that is positive will reap the rewards of more positive things. It truly is like planting seeds and watching them grow. I was talking to my daughter this week who was really struggling with a negative life. I told her to make one positive decision a day, to make it her goal to accomplish something, no matter how small, that was positive. That was only three days ago and she is already smiling broader and holding her head up higher.
My husband and I were talking just this morning and though we get frustrated when others lie to us and we know something just doesn't sound right, we can look at the positive shifts in direction and it changes our entire focus on that individual. Because I know the source of every single lie I think it grieves me rather than makes me angry when I am let down by a lie. It is easy to let it get you down if you allow it to. We cannot afford to miss the cues when someone says, "Hey, I haven't been quite honest with you..." To me that's a small beginning towards a more truthful life. I applaud it loudly when I hear it.
Here's my point. It is so easy to dwell on what is negative in ourselves and in others. Seek not to talk about all they are not doing, but proclaim loudly the smallest steps in the right direction that they are doing. They will be more likely to want to try it again if they get a warm fuzzy from you. Focus on the good and you will be happier in the process. Think on these tings...... Where your mind takes up residence will find itself upon your lips and your whole world will be affected by it. Let our offerings be sweet smelling and not something others turn away from in disgust. Today let us all applaud the small beginnings in others. Some are just mere babies learning all over again how to walk.
