This is so timely, because I finally got help myself this week. Love it! You are so right. Those are the sexist words to come out of any mans lips...Too funny!
Absolutely one of the best blogs I've read in a looong time! Don't ever stop writing (I really need the free entertainment to distract me from eating, thanks!).
Translation: You have one brand new fan, I think you're amazing, and I thank you also for that Denzel visual!
I was a little behind on my blog reading (one of the few times when "little behind" can describe me, but I'm working on it) and so this was my first chance to see this blog.
Asking for help,in any domain, is such an issue for so many of us!
I am a person witih a disability and within the past few years, I was finally convinced to apply for help so that I could hire a Personal Care Assistant and it has made a huge difference in my life.
I actually resisted doing it for a number of years, convinced, first that I wouldn't qualify, and then not knowing how I could fit it into my life.
However, once I had a person who was a good fit in the position, my life was better. I didn't have to exhaust myself spending hours doing tasks badly or incompletely because I didn't have the energy to do them in the first place. Someone else could accomplish those tasks in half the time, leaving me with energy to think about other things.
Ah, the joys of letting go!
Thanks for approaching this topic from another angle.
My cats did the same vomit on carpet routine...run from wood to carpet as fast as their little legs could carry them! I'm from Georgia and love Savannah. Congrats on your degree!
Hi, I am almost crying I am laughing so hard! You really should be a writer or a stand-up comedian. CONGRATS on your degree. APA style....I remember those days....UGH! Again blog. P.S. I don't care how you cut your hair....you would look great! June
Haha awesome blog! I got a few chuckles!! It's definitely hard to know when to ask for help when you think you need to do it all yourself, I get myself in the same problem sometimes, but I'm learning :)
I had forgotten how very hilarious your blogs were! You should WRITE professionally - or go into comedy. How's your timing? It's great on paper.
Enjoy yourself now that Graduate School is DONE!
I learned a few years back to say NO to my darling hubby when he wanted me to be his little helper as he attempted to clean gutters (the urge to pull the ladder out from under him was too great) and do other maintenance. I do what I love to do and house cleaning isn't it. The cost of a cleaning team is well worth the peace of mind. So who cares if I run out of money when I'm old and gray (I am old, but thanks be to good genes not gray!). Have a great day.
You are so very witty and creative with your writing. What a pleasure to discover yet another one of your blogs. Congrats on completing your Master's, getting a new hair cut, and finally figuring out that's why God made gardeners!!! lol
AGAIN! Thanks for the laughs! The only thing better than a man doing the work for you is if he looks good while doing it!!! Too bad Denzel wasn't available to clear your yard, of course then, there wouldn't have been much cleaning, huh?
When I defended my dissertation, my doctoral advisor relayed a story about attending a thesis defense in which a bottle of 30 year old aged scotch whiskey was placed on the table in the center of the room. In his thesis, the defendee had written that if anyone read his thesis, they could help themselves to the bottle.
No one did.
We are all suckers... BUT... suckers with diplomas.
What can I add to that except I understand the crazy as I sit here reading another damn article I need to include in my Master's project that I am trying to complete in the next month! Oh wow did I just set a goal. Can you see me pulling out my long sandy blond hair, oh wait you did that already thank you I can save mine! LOL
I used to think that me and my fibromyalgia needed help with yardwork, too, and then I adopted two large dogs. What yard? Seriously. The lawn is destroyed, the gardens are full of holes and the trees, well, they are still trees and I still have dead leaves but eventually they blow all over the dead grass and into the big holes and it actually looks better that way.
Many congrats on your (over) achievement of completing your masters degree. You are awesomesauce!
That's so cool about your hair cut. I hope it is holding up after several weeks for you. Big Congratulations on your Masters. You should be very proud of yourself. I'm so not a frequent flyer on SP. I need to hang around here more for the focus and inspiration. I had to put some brakes on the "screen suckers" in my life (TV, computer, etc). They can really use up the time.
Anyway, hope you are well. Just wanted to stop by and check on you. Keep up the good stuff . . like always . . .
Belated Congratulations on completing your Master's...don't know how I missed that!
Owning a house is ... interesting isn't it! I did it once, liked it so much I went out and bought a duplex this time...now the tenants do the yard work...lol..because they want to...who knew!
Have a wonderful day...and enjoy the recuperation time
You are absolutely wonderful crazy and make me laugh. I love reading your blogs and I hope you love your hair style. Stay just the way you are and healthy, happy and love life. God bless you always.
Awesome blog as usual. You are able to put enough laughter, serious stuff and advice in each one to beat out Dear Abby! Sure hope the Denzel thing works out...he has no idea what he is missing by not showing up at your house! Hope you have a great weekend, stay safe and have fun. L.
Well, I for one think I can do a better cutting job on my hair than most hairdressers (I been to), because they dont seem to realize every head is not the same for one thing. Two I am paying them , not they, me, nor paid to destroy my hair; so I think I know when and how to cut my hair and that means that dam culprit they call a callick (did I spell that right?) I hate it when they dotn understand them or how they manuever your hair. I get tired of the hairdressers making me look like bozo the clown with my hair out to the sides like a moon out of orbit! I know I can do better, because I was almost was hired by a Mens salonartist when he saw how many heads of hair I cut every summer on my porch, without pay, I may add. So I know how, but its not easy seeing the back of your ehad or cutting it straight looking in a mirror! lol The salon haridresser said he'd hired me when I turned 18, but I dont like cutting hair! I just like looking good and better than the average dog clipped hair! So if you need a hair cut find someone you can trust to touch your scalp! I for one choose to do it myself since the last fiasco idiot cut my hair and I looked like a fruit being hacked to death! And since I am paying someone to do it for me, you better believe, it better be done to my specifications or they dont get paid or I dont return! But its really not that difficult to CUT hair or anything! Its knowing how to make someone more beautiful than a pet poodle! Hope you have a nice hair cut or hair day and also a great Memorial day weekend! Try and not eat the whole watermelon thing! Hugs Susana
LOL...this had me laughing so hard at work. Not just smiling a little but bursting out with laughter. You should do this for a living, seriously!! I agree with the other person who said you should write a book, I would read it too!! Congrats and best wishes!!
Love love love your blogs! Glad you finally finished that degree. Geesh... didn't your school realize that WE needed you on Sparkpeople to keep us inspired? (and you do!! you so totally do!!) Glad you finally hired a gardener... maybe I should be that smart?
awesome, amazing....A+ love your stories, blogs...suggestions. if you'd write a book, we all would promise to buy it!!! you are a a great writer...love your blogs. Have a great day!!!!
Congrats on the Masters. You bring smiles to me all the time with your wit and humor. Yards are notoriously labor intensive. Wish I could hire someone to do mine but no one around here wants to - they all have terrible yards of their own. Currently toying with the idea of a garden. I do have cherry tomato and yellow bell pepper plants growing on the front porch but a garden would be nice. Alas I'm a lousy gardener too, so who knows. Have a fabulous weekend and enjoy your new lifestyle!
Hey girl! on getting your Master's!! You crack me up, love your blogs as always!! Love the fart part related to school , stinky but so funny!! Great you found Scott, haha!! Enjoy doing "cute dainty things" in your garden while waiting for Denzel to arrive in your driveway!!
Woohoo! Congrats on your Master's and the 4.0!!! That's awesome! Also glad you have both professional Gardner and Stylist! Lol. You can't do everything! Maybe the cats can, in their own way! Lol.
Awesome blog. Man, asking for help has got to be one of the hardest things to do, at least it is for me. Great job on finishing your degree. I look forward to reading more of your blogs.
