Tonight I have two choices, I only have time for one.

Thursday, April 05, 2012

I went to Portland with my friend.
We both opted not to go to the mall or spend money we went for a really nice walk in Falmouth Maine.
I had no camera with me, I never expected this treat. She showed me waterfalls I had never seen before and they were flowing very fast.
There were tree trunks in the waterfalls they made them look even fiercer than they really were. The noise was quite deafening.
We walked for over two hours and I realized I needed to eat. So we found a natural food restaurant and I had a wrap with Guacamole, lettuce, bacon , boiled egg and tomato. That was a really great tasting wrap. A pickle wedge topped it off. We both drank tap water and we had a half price coupon so we split the bill too. Way to go.
I arrived home to find DH had broken his glasses and we had to go immediately to the eye Dr in the next town to have then repaired.
I traveled in the car around 200 miles and walked for over 2 hours.
I did my sparking but once again the points have disappeared.
Now I must choose between brain training for tomorrow or walking. I have walked every morning this week and my blood sugar was higher than when I walk in the evening.
I absolutely must go do another 4 mile walk just to satisfy myself that the walking at night lowers my fasting Blood Sugar.
Must go for it, even though I am tired, I have to be sure that this works for me. HUGS Pat in Maine.

Your Falmouth adventure sounded wonderful. We don't have a lot of waterfalls here but I love the ones we do.

Terrific walk - I really enjoy the Portland area but it and Peak's Island are really the only areas of Maine I'm familiar with.

I am very envious of that great walk! A friend to walk with, plus some great sites! I hope that you can return and get pictures, my very good sparkfriend.

Try eating something before your walk. My BS is always up in the morning, and comes down when I eat, and it goes up with exercise if I don't eat something before I start. It has to do with how my liver metabolizes glucagon (long way to say "my liver doesn't work right). This happens to a fair number of us "late middle agers", so it might be worth checking that out as a possibility.

I have never heard that walking at night will lower one's blood sugars. I do hope this works for you. I would choose the walk. BTW - you and your friend need to go back to portland with the camera in hand.

Have a Blessed Day. Sunny I received this today from Mennonite Girls can Cook. Just wanted to shar it with you.

Today is Good Friday !
Someone asks 'Why do we call it good?'
It was the agonizing death of an innocent Man for crimes he did not commit.
We cannot bear to see His suffering on a rough hewn cross.
In the words of Isaiah we agree...
"We hid our faces from Him, He was despised and we did not esteem Him."
Is. 53:3b

But, look again.

The Man who died never did anything wrong.
That was GOOD ...
As the sacrificial Passover Lamb the Man was perfect , without blemish.
That was GOOD
The Man willingly gave His life to save others.
That was GOOD
The Man even as He hung on the cross spoke comforting words to sinners ...
"Father, forgive them... " and ...
"Today you will be with Me in paradise.. "
That was GOOD
His Father in heaven was watching ...
He knew Sunday was coming and it would reveal God's ancient plan.
and He said...
"It is GOOD!"

Wow, busy day!!! I can tell you for sure that there is a direct correlation between my exercise and my blood sugar. If I walk and exercise it's normal . . . if not, it is highter than waht I'd like it to be. So, hope you got to walk!
