Just an update on my Bikram practice challenge among other things. I started the challenge on Monday and started out on a fantastic note. My practice was amazing and I FELT amazing. I'm not sure if it was all the excitement of getting a chart put on the wall where I could put any kind of stickers I wanted for each day I attended and decorate as I wanted or just the fact that I had a great practice. Either way, I'm hoping they continue to be this way and that I continue to feel healthy, flexible and whole. I will be taking a picture of my chart this evening to post. It's really cute but it'll be even cuter once it's filled with all my stickers for the 60 days of pure bliss. I decided to also weigh myself, even though I am not much of a scale person but definitely measuring myself is in the cards. I'm not really doing this challenge for losing weight but I'm hoping that I do see some changes in my body and soul. I'm already feeling changes in other ways and that's positive for me.
I did have a bit of a setback on Tues though. Here in the area where I live, we had some crazy Tornadic activity on Tues. and in fact, sirens were going off left and right around my office. Tornadoes and severe weather surrounded the area I worked in and also the path home. I ended up having to stay at work for awhile until it was a bit too late for me to head to my practice. So I will be making it up by doing a double on Sun. The cool thing about this challenge is that you have the option of doing straight 7 days a week or taking a day off during the week and doing a double where you can fit it in. Problem for me is, not sure if I can handle doing a double but I will know when I do it for the first time on Sunday.
As for the "then some" part of this blog. My friend Sarah (also a co-worker) started this little regimen for ourselves where we can get a little extra strength training in throughout our work day. As much water as we consume in a work day and all the visits we make to the ladies room because of it, we decided we'd throw in some ST while there. Our company has a small gym right outside the women's and men's bathrooms. After each potty break, we head into the small gym and commence to ST. We do a variety of exercises but just enough to only take up about 5 min. They usually consist of a variety of pushups, tricep work, leg work, shoulder, ab crunches, etc. It's kind of become a bit of a habit for us now and so today that we had what is called "Class B" day where we have to dress up (outside of our usual jeans, shirts, tennis shoes or sandals), we couldn't do our usual workout, so instead we took off on a bit longer walk during our breaks. We both hated that we couldn't do a lot of ST today but we'll make it up tomorrow. Yes, even on Fridays that have always been my off day, we are incorporating our potty break workouts....woohoo....total win/win situation going on here!
Lots of changes here folks and I'm enjoying life!!!
All that said, I am about to head to my 3rd Bikram for the week.
Have a great rest of your week and a wonderful Good Friday to head into a Happy Easter weekend!
