Well, I'm not really sure what I think. I do believe that she thinks I am being too strict or too hard on myself if I don't meet my goals. I think she was slightly pushing things like artificial sweetners and processed foods but I'm not going to start using nutrasweet or splenda because she said it was okay. She did give me a few samples of truvia and another stevia product.
She disagrees with the 3 meal a day/ just meat and green veggie advice that one of the endocrinologists gave me. I tried that and it worked sometimes but I had to make sure that I was eating 5-600 calories at a time to stay full and when you are limited to meat and green veggies...... She agrees that 175 grams of carbs is a good target for me. Anywhere from 175-200 is what she thought. I'm going to target between 150-200 instead of 120-175 now. Her big thing was that I need to plan my meals so that I am getting 30-45 grams per meal and about 15 grams per snack, up to 3 per a day. Pairing protein or fat with the carbs is important. I also need to review the Glycemic Index. She didn't like my pineapple but it was better than watermelon
I'm not going to try to completely eliminate dairy anymore. I will just see how it makes me feel. If I am okay with cheese then I will just try to limit to 1 serving per day. I made up a dip this morning using 0% fage plain yogurt and ranch dressing mix. I think I may have added too much of the mix but oh well.
I have a followup appointment in 5 weeks and I have a bunch of goals to work on. Let's see if this will break this darn yo-yoing of 8-10lbs. If I could break into the 230's by the appointment (very optimistic for me) that would really be fantastic.
