Snake in the Grass

Thursday, April 05, 2012

no, really :) I had a visitor to my garden yesterday:

he's just a garter snake, hanging out by the peas and trying to eat my lizards and toads. But I like my lizards and toads, because they eat the mosquitoes! So, I ran off mister snake (mostly by trying to get his photo!)

Aww. Pretty little thing and harmless to people. They're just looking for food, shelter and warmth just like all other creatures. Thanks for treating it with respect!

Snakes are ok in their proper place - far away from me. A couple of years ago we found a black snake in our bathroom. It was huge, monstrous, gigantic, even though my husband called it "just a harmless little snake." No snake in my bathroom is a harmless little snake. I can deal with them in the yard but not in the house!

Definitely a little guy. I remember one in our garage growing up. He was around 6 feet long and definitely panicked by a bunch of curious kids surrounding him. Our dad took him off to some fields a couple miles away and released him.

OMG, I think I would have freaked out if I saw that outside!
It's nice to know that all I have to do is pull out my camera to make it slither away! emoticon

So pretty! Unlike the other posters, I've always loved snakes. Weird, I know! haha.

You know that song "I don't like spiders and snakes!" I probably could have written it, at least the title. I am such a wimp when it comes to either of them! Kudos to you! emoticon

If there was a snake in my yard, I'd probably never go out there again. I was weeding once and saw a HUGE worm and I never did the weeding again.

You and me both. I don't even look at pictures of them my fear of them goes back to
local boys chasing us girls with garter snake in hand.

You're stronger than me because I would have been the one run off, not the snake!!
