How I broke my yearlong plateau in 3 days! Hellooooo Onederland!

Last year at this time I was beginning to wrap up my sophomore year and started the summer at 193 lbs after losing 48 in one school year. But due to stress and working almost 12 hours a day I gained 18 pounds and wound up at 210. This year though making many fitness gains I only lost about 5 pounds and consistently hovered at 205.
About 2 weeks ago I finally kept my weight around 201-202 and sometimes peeking into onederland!
But…Starting Sunday I got serious and woke up this morning to find 198!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did I do it?
-DAILY commitment instead of a certain day of the week plan, which I achieved using the “Don’t break the Chain plan” (You can read about it in my last blog)

- Tracking every bite of food I ate. I realized my little extra noodles and licks of peanut butter off the spoon were more calories that I had accounted for and I was eating at a level that maintained my weight instead of allowing me to lose it.

-Actually working out… go figure.

-Planning! Planning! Planning! I knew what I was going to eat and when.

-Veggies! I have always been a big fruit eater but I was majorly lacking in the veggie department. Now that I have a goal of eating a veggie with lunch and dinner it is taking a boatload of calories out of my daily consumption.

Overall I just had to go back to the basics and remember how I lost almost 50 pounds in the first place.

I also need to thank my sparkfriends who stayed with me and encouraged me through the year that helped me get back into onederland! You guys are the best.

    GOOD JOB! You hung in there and it paid off...

I understand how tough it can be in college...stress, stress, and more stress...So, it isn't easy to track the calories and workouts, unless you are an athlete...and the cafeteria food offer good and bad choices...

I admire you, because you are starting now instead waiting until you finish college...BECAUSE, I learned that bad habits follow you well after college...

Blogs like yours is why I am continue to be on SPARK, you are a true motivation for us as we are to you...

    Great job! And thanks so much for sharing! I need to break a plateau so very badly and can't afford to hit another this year if I wanna meet my goals. Also for laughs (at myself) I first read onederland as Oh-needer-land. Haha-which makes me think of that movie That Thing You Do where the band is called The Wonders but they start out as The Oneders-and keep getting called Oh-needers. Lol-I'm very special sometimes! Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
