Employer/Insurance Sponsored Fitness Program

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

I'm so very excited, I finally got approval for the fitness program through my insurance company through work. I'm a state govt employee so I have great benefits. My plan looks like this:

Month 1 Intake (weigh in, blood pressure, waist measurement, body fat check)
60 minute Fitness Assessment
120 minutes with a personal trainer
Month 2 Progress Check-In
120 minutes with a personal trainer
60 minutes with registered dietician
Month 3 Progress Check-In
60 Minute Fitness Assessment
120 minutes with personal trainer
Month 4 Progress Check-In
60 minutes with registered dietician
120 minutes with personal trainer
Month 5 Progress Check-In
120 minutes with personal trainer
Month 6 Progress Check-In
30 minutes with registered dietician
60 minutes with personal trainer
60 minute Fitness Assessment
Month 7-12
60 minutes each month with a personal trainer

8 sessions over one year with a Health Behavior Counselor

Expectations from me to remain in the program are:
1. Keep a food log, diary, or journal as prescribed by the nutrition professional
2. Exercise at least 2 days per week for 1-hour sessions at the exercise facility and follow non - facility based exercise recommendations of Program professionals
3. Meet a minimum weight loss goal of approximately 2.5% at the end of month 3 in the Program, 5% at the end of month 6, and 10% at the end of month 12 OR achieve a “normal” body mass index (less than 25 kg/m2) AND healthy waist circumference (less than 40” for men or less than 35” for women) --- or make significant improvements in fitness or other measures in lieu of weight loss

Participation can be extended up to 2 years if I am making progress but haven't reached a normal BMI by the end of one year and have done the above ^

Best part, I can continue going to the gym I've been going to and my co-pay is only $20/month (I'm paying $60 for just general gym usage w/o personal training)

I think this is the kick in the butt MOTIVATION I've been needing.

Now I just have to wait for the call of when I can start the actual the meantime I'll be continuing to slowly work back into things.

I love fitness contests! They always spur me on...this is a great plan! How much weight is 2.5% in a month, though?
