Should I Run a Sparkers' Fashion Contest?

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

Wow! I can't believe it's been almost three weeks since my last blog.

A lot has happened in that time. The good part is that I have blogged quite a bit--after speaking to my clients about what is on their minds. I have blogged about wedding fashion and makeup. Now, I have another blog to do to complete my three-part bridal makeup blogs.

I have also blogged about bridal fashion. I have learned that this year bridal fashion is following many of the non-bridal trends--like peplums (which can hide a multitude of sins in the hip area) and the high-low hem line (some call it the "mullet hemline"--not the most flattering description!)

I see that a number of Sparkers have visited my web site and I want to thank you for that. You can help me further by sharing your fashion opinions, concerns and questions with me so that I can address them.

I'm thinking of running a contest for Sparkers. Now that I have Skype, I am ready to give lessons and see wardrobes virtually anywhere in the world. I will think further about this.

Please let me know your thoughts on this. You can visit my web site at:

    Hi 'Merry -
This could be a great idea.

I'm just anxious for myself because these days I dress poorly. I have good color and pattern (artistic sense), it's just that I just don't have the mental energy as well as physical energy, with the weight issues and sizing issues (which basically means I should sew my clothes, or at least be more willing to stop kvetching and just accept and plan on having to hem and/or alter EVERY stitch of clothing I buy. I'm such an oddball shape even with the weight that pants etc just don't fit well or are too expensive foru blood if I could find somethig that truly fit.

So I make do with accessories and earrings and necklaces to give me that sense of "fashion" for myself...

But I think this would be somethig very appealing to many here on Spark. Maybe could go by age range as well as gender, or categories like professional, casual, dressy casual, sporty, cocktail, just ideas off tip of my head. Or top of my head, whichever way.

Okay well I need to get my ratty pants and me on outdoors to do some mowing before the yard attacks us!!

Later!

Julia

As far as fashion goes I am wise enough to make sure my wife or one of my daughters is with me when I shop for anything beyond a pair of jeans and a tee shirt emoticon

I believe a contest is a good idea. It revitalizes interest in your business and the good Lord knows everyone is attracted to "free." About three times a year I will offer a free coaching session on goal setting or maybe a free resume just to shake up the dust. It sparks interest in what you are doing. One of my most profitable clients came from a free cup of coffee, a donut and thirty minutes of me doing an infomercial on HR issues.

Great idea Merry
