The Bike Trailer Rolls Again

Monday, April 02, 2012

This is the 3rd bike trailer I've owned. My first one lost a part, and I gave my 2nd one away because I thought my kids had outgrown it. This 3rd one I found on Freecycle.org and it worked out great today. My youngest boy is almost too big for it, but I got him buckled in and he loved every minute of it! He doesn't remember when he was a baby and I took him.

We went about 10 miles today, and WOW I totally deserve more activity minutes for hauling 45 lbs. of child. Best part was that I spent 22 cents on a banana for myself, while everyone else on the road spent $4/gallon for gas. ;)

Next time we go out (tomorrow), I will make sure he has his helmet on though. Being on the roads with giant metal boxes of traffic, with my sweet little boy in back, was unnerving, and I will feel better when he is wearing his Lightning McQueen helmet.

In food news, I had a huge dinner. I put in almost 2 hours of exercise today plus walking around campus all morning, so my dinner was 700 calories. I was just above the top of my range for the day, so I don't think that was too bad for the kind of day I put in. Also I got 12 cups of water! When it gets warm, and I'm outside exercising so much, I drink a LOT of water. I'm happy that is coming back in line, because my water intake hasn't been that great over the past week.

That's about all for today, as I have kids to put to bed. UGH...they never sleep. They stay up too late, and then they get up and start milling around the house before 7am!!! When they become teenagers, I won't be able to get them to wake up. Figures.

I keep thinking about what you said about taking your bike and trailer to the grocery store. I'd love to do that on light shopping days or when I just need something to cook for dinner. It would be great and I wouldn't need the car (for the trunk). I have walked to the store too and it's not so bad. Thanks for the inspiration!
