Another pound gone, a good week

Sunday, April 01, 2012

Happy April Sparkers! emoticonI hope that you don’t get any unpleasant surprises today. There has been some progress for me, but I have had some set backs as well.

The Good News: (1) I have started incorporating jogging into my walks. My route is about 3.9 miles and I try to do 3-4 250-300 yard stretches of a light jog. This has put my average pace around 15 min/mile. emoticon emoticon(2) I managed to walk over 16 miles this week, even though I picked up an extra day of work. (3) I will have access to a bicycle again. I just have to pick it up from the repair shop tomorrow. My friend is letting me use it when he isn’t. I am so excited! I really prefer cycling to walking or jogging. emoticon(4) I am down another pound at this morning’s weigh in. emoticon emoticon emoticonI am especially happy with that because Auntie Flow came to visit this morning AND I could do an Activia commercial with Jamie Lee. emoticon

The Bad News: (1) I have been having pain issues with my right elbow for about 2 months. It got bad enough that I went to the emergency room three weeks ago. When I followed up with my PCP, he put me on a week of oral steroids. It helped for a while, but I think I need to go back and maybe get an MRI. (2) I have started having pain issues in my left knee. It stared about two weeks ago, a week after I started doing EA Sports Trainer on the Wii 4X/week instead of 2X. I have no problem walking or doing a light jog, but squatting, lunging, stair climbing, and jumping are uncomfortable to painful. Since EA has me doing different combinations each time, and it mixes cardio with strength, it was just becoming too much. The arm exercises were aggravating my elbow, the lower body stuff was aggravating my knee, and I just could not do the jumps. So no more EA for now, instead I am doing Core Performance. I definitely need to see my doctor and figure out what the heck is going on. emoticon

All in all, it was not a bad week. I am also picking up an extra work day this week ($$$), so another push to get my time in. I hope everyone has a great week. Oh yeah, I made my emoticon on the 27th! emoticon
