Job decision made

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

I met with my special ed. director today and told her I had decided to stay in my current school and take the position with students with behavior disorders. I've received a lot of support while making this decision. I could wait a couple of months to decide if I want to, but I've already visited 2 other schools so I can't think of another position that might open up that I'd want. I love the school I work in and the staff is great. My associates have said they are willing to go with me to the new position which makes the decision a much easier one. We work well together and know how each person thinks. We have a great system and have become good friends. That's not to say there won't be some tough days, but there are now. I've had many students with behavior problems over the years so I know what I"m getting into. It's nice not to be in limbo any longer.
This week and next will be hectic so I'm squeezing in what exercise I can. Weight is holding steady so that's where I'm at for now. Better than gaining!

Best of luck in your new area. Sounds like E I students?
I'm definitely not going back in the Fall. Doc's recommendation - too many personal injuries & stress. My health has to come first. But after 22 years it's the end of a good run. I,too, worked with a great team & made many personal friends but Gid us clearly leading me into something fresh & new ;)

Tough decision! So many teachers are holding our breathe, waiting to find out if we have jobs or where/if we will need to move. I once worked with a teacher who had moved 11 times in 15 years of teaching! As a newbie, I worry that I will be part time at two different schools. You've done an amazing job sticking with wellness throughout all the stress.

I'm glad you made a decision instead of having one made for you. Glad you'll be staying at S. - hope I'm there next year too :)

Glad you have made a decision. It sounds like you have made the right decision for you rather than bending to pressure. I'm sure this also eases the pressure on your mind. Enjoy the rest of your school year.
