A Girl of Habit

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

In order for anything to stick with me I have to make it a habit. It has to get to a point where I have to do it or else I feel like something is off about me. Every day so far for a week now I have been doing crunches and pushups, I've been making it a habit. I feel stronger already, and even though I have already done my situps and pushups today, I feel like I can do more. I WANT to do more. It's so odd, but it makes sense. When I was a freshman in ROTC in highschool I loved doing P.T. I wasn't the stongest, or the fastest but I like to think I was in good shape; nothing athletic, but I was at good weight, healthy, strong... I was everything I wanted to be then. I was motivated. I was dedicated. I was proud. P.T. was a habit. I am a girl of habit, its what I need. Healthy habits are good to have. :)

Good for you, Rach, that's really the key. My son told me that years ago, he is a real health nut, he works out and when the weather is nice, he gets out and runs several miles a night. I asked him once how on earth he could do it, and that is exactly what he said to me. He said, "Mom, it's just a habit now, I just do it without thinking and when I don't do it, it feels like there's something wrong with my day." And he's kept with it all of these years. He was playing basketball with some 18 year olds awhile ago and he outran them all, and he is in his late thirties now, so he was really kind of astonished by that but also kind of proud of himself. LOL I think it's quite a feat, myself. So keep it up, you're on the right track, I think. I'm working on the exact same thing myself now.

I think most of us are. Not girls, but of habits. LOL I also need to do things over and over to make it stick. Nothing wrong with that, we all learn a bit differently. Keep the faith
