Do you ever notice that if you go into a food store hungry, you’re more likely to buy more? The same goes for if you’re shopping on a day when the food demonstrators (samplers) are out in full force sampling varieties of food. How can a person not buy the item they just sampled? Ooh, it tastes so good and it’s (usually) on sale too! And what about the alluring appearance of the bakery and deli counters? The temptation is definitely there.
However, the absolute worst scenario is working in a grocery store (whether full-time or part-time), constantly surrounded by food (on shelves, in display cases, etc.) & food demonstrators (samplers). Believe me, I know… I work part-time at a grocery store. The temptation to eat (and purchase) food is definitely there and most (but not all) are on the ‘see food’ diet… They see food, they eat it.
But, not me (as of late)... In an effort to live a healthier lifestyle, one of my focal points (habit forming energy) is watching what I eat along w/ the portion size(s). Thus, I've been bringing healthy snacks to work to eat on my break (fresh fruit/veggies, hummus, yogurt, etc.). If and I mean if I do splurge (which is seldom), I choose a small (dinner size) roll from the bread case (usually rye or whole wheat). As for beverages, I stick to drinking water throughout the day.
So, how am I doing? Great! I've dropped 2 lbs so far.
