My husband, my hero!!!

Warning - scary story and scary picture!!!!

Okay, yesterday evening I walked into the bathroom, and there was something long and creepy on the window sill - long and snakeline, but half standing up and looking around!!!!!!!!! I saw the wiggly legs and realized exactly what it was, our horrible giant centipede! This is the third one we've had in this apartment, and they freak me out!

So I went running into the bedroom, shrieking and waving my arms around, and could barely get out the words "Centipede in the bathroom" I was so freaked out!!

DH turned on the light and of course the centipede started slithering around trying to get away - I ran and got the broom, and DH tried to get the horrible thing out of the house but when it made a run for the bedroom, he smashed it with the broom. It made quite a mess all over the bathroom floor and wall, and I found stray legs a while later. Gross!!

But here's an online photo of a similar horrible creature:

I told DH I was entitling this "My husband, my hero" and he said he's never been anyone's hero before - but after dealing with this dreadful thing, well, he's definitely my hero!!!

Oh, that's a sweet story. Often we think that to be a hero there has to be from something HUGE (Ok, that centipede was pretty large, but I think you know what I!) and it isn't always the size of what is being defeated as much as the size of the issue to us. It's amazing how large a small act of kindness can feel! I hope you gave the hero a big hug! emoticon

Myrna, these things are FAST! Trust me, a bucket isn't big enough - maybe a 50 gallon drum would hold it, but even that isn't definite! Plus these things bite and are very aggressive - just nasty creatures!!!

I know it looks horrible, but it is a shame you had to kill it. I am sure it was more scared of you. A scoop and a bucket and an open window would have done the trick. Now if you had said Cockroach, I would have run screaming for the hills. Anything that can move quicker than me is a different proposition. One day I will tell you a story about 5 grandchildren 2 cowardly parents and one brave but screaming Booba and a cockroach. I love Israel, but give me England and its tame mini spiders any day.
