Well, it is Spring although you might not know it from the rain and cool temps we have had the past few days. The various aches and conditions have also not made me personally feel very spring-y. I have a wedding to attend in a few weeks, so I made my way out to the local mall (dragging along my DH) to find a dress. Now I have not lost any weight in quite a while, despite improving my overall fitness level, so I was not looking forward to this task.
When I walked into the store, I actually was pleased because I saw the colors for this season. All of the corals, oranges, robin's egg blues and teals are MY colors. Many moons ago, I had my colors "done" as a graduation gift from my sister. As a dominant "Spring, " the clear bright colors are all ones I can wear (except for the yellows). On a daily basis, I tend to wear more neutral and dark colors in my conservative work environment. I also don't want my body to necessarily stand out in a dramatic way at this weight/fitness level. I spied a cute watercolor like shift dress (with horizontally stitched panels - uh oh). The dress was not available in the same size as dress I bought last year for my reunion, so I was bummed and relieved at the same time. It would take some courage on my part to wear such a dress.
I went upstairs to the events dress section and tried on one floral sundress that my DH liked. It was okay, but it had a crinoline and seemed too fussy for me. We went back downstairs to look at the other dress again. I took the smaller size and tried it on. It FIT and it emphasized the fact that I have been doing some work. Yes I am still a WIP, but I can and should feel good about where I am right now. Now I just need some shoes...
