Did it help? I had a hysterectomy (had a 5 pound fibroid) before my diagnosis with Crohns, but afterwards my Crohns got worse. The rest of my 30's and 40's were filled with too many hours in a bathroom or drugged up to stop the cramping. Everyone is different, which makes the disease so difficult to treat. I hope it's going better for you!

I had fibroids.... and apparently they have been causing my crohns to flare WAY more often than it should.
I would be fine a month or two... then ALWAYS three days before my period...i would have a flare start...
I asked my gastro, and my family dr. about it..... i tried birth control pills to see if it was my hormones.... Finally went to my gyno and we discussed my options... i chose to have the surgery.
out of TWO YEARS worth of time, my crohns flared ONLY twice that was not related to my period. (I went to the E.R. NINE TIMES last year......nine) ALL period related.
noone really knows for sure WHY one caused the other... maybe i have endometreosisand I have the tissue attached to my colon.... I dont know.
However, I'll tell you all the same thing I told my family dr.
Remove the period. Remove the problem.

    ..........right????...............

I hope you feel better real soon.. As a resthome helper whom is sent out to folks in own home would love to hear about how your hysterectomy can help crohns.. It must be terrible to have issues with both at the same time..
