I'm making progress!!!

Saturday, March 24, 2012

Today marks 4 weeks since I started with Spark People. It has taken me a little bit of time to understand exactly what I'm doing but it's finally happening. I'm getting better at planning my meals (and following them, lol) and I'm getting better at exercising. All it takes is time and patience. If you would have asked me a year ago about having patience, I would have laughed. But as the years go by, I realize that life is too short to not be able to enjoy it to the fullest. My first goal for myself was to stop smoking. I quit on June 1, 2011. It wasn't easy, but few things in life are. I quit because I wanted to be healthy for myself and my kids. Now I want to be a healthy weight too. I want to be able to run and play with my children (and someday my grandchildren). But most of all, I want them to know a healthier way to live. My family has been supportive (for the most part) although they like to pick on me when I'm weighing out my food or taking a walk in the rain. They also have started joining me on my walks and in starting their own Spark goals.

Today I weighed myself. I have lost 9.2 lbs since my journey has begun. That might not seem like a lot to some people but it shocked me. My first big weight goal is to lose 50 lbs. To know that I've lost almost a fifth of my goal in 4 weeks time, wow. Just wow. So now I am more motivated than ever to try out my new Spark People dvd, 28 Day Boot Camp, which just came in today. I also am looking for any and all friends who want to chat and encourage each other as we make this healthy lifestyle change, together.

You've had a very successful start to your journey here at Sparks. Tracking food and fitness is the best thing. They make it foolproof but it still takes alot of effort to make it happen....at least it does for me. I struggle but I know the journey to getting healthy is well worth it. Good luck to you.....great start and great attitude!!!
