For our upcoming anniversary (March 27), my hubby and I decided to buy each other a pair of hiking boots and the Texas state parks pass.
Ta da!
We decided that the green time and awesome quality time together were the perfect gifts to celebrate our anniversary! The pass is valid for a year, and my hubby, son and I are all excited about the possibilities that this will allow our family! I can't wait to get out there and explore some more, camera in hand of course!
So for our first hike we went to a gorgeous park called Brazos Bend. It's home to the American alligator, and I was so thrilled to finally get to see some! There were so many different forms of flora and fauna there. My little shutterbug heart was on hyper drive! It was an amazingly beautiful area to hike in, and I can't wait to head back there! So here's just a small "snap shot" of our day!
Is it just me, or does this tree branch look like a deer to you too?!
The Peanut Gallery hehe!
I love this pic of him!
Sun salutations!
We rarely ever let go of each other, even when we hike!
Love, love, LOVE this man! I adored seeing how much the green time allowed him to relax and unplug. What a beautiful gift to be able to share with him!
Hehe!
When we drove past a similar drive heading into the park, I thought it said not to feed them or wrestle them haha! I like my version better!
Happy hikers!
We ended up ending the hike with a healthy picnic under some trees!
It truly was a beautiful, energising, amazingly spectacular and healthy way to celebrate our anniversary! What a turn around from past celebrations that always centered around foods that were fat laden, heavy and full of empty calories! It's starting to surprise me how these healthy choices are coming more naturally to me now. Don't get me wrong - I still struggle with this and have to make conscious, mindful choices every single day. But I'm slowly learning to trust my body and those choices, and it's really starting to pay off. 112 lbs gone forever, and finally this morning, my happy little heart discovered the ecstatic joy of stepping into Onederland!
(Sorry about the quality - it was taken on my phone in my dingy little bathroom hehe!)
