CF Open 12.5

One of the days I go to Crossfit is Friday evening. We have been doing, for the last number of weeks, the open workouts on Fridays. Competitors are judged and the rest of us can just do it for the fun of it.
Tonight we did 12.5 - the Fran ladder (or as we have been calling it - Fran on Steroids!)
Thrusters then chest to bar pull ups Reps for time - 7 minutes

6/6
9/9
12/12
15/15
etc. -you get the picture

I am not competing -no way I could, because I have to scale. But I have been following the Masters women 55-59. I did 40# thrusters - which I think (not sure) that masters women's rx was 50#, so not too far off. I have to use assist bands for pull ups, but the assist has slowly become less and less (not sure if it's because I am getting lighter or stronger or a combination of both). Coach, bless his heart!, said I am getting close. I was able to get to the 12 bracket with 9 thrusters before time ran out.

Maybe by next year ....... it would be fun and a thrill just to try to compete and to see my name on our team in the company of all the fine and stellar athletes out there. I am beginning to sound like my husband the Cub fan - " Just wait til next year"!!

    LOVE IT!!! WAY TO GO! Sounds like me too! I've been doing the wods too. Next year I might be able to do it without all the assists too! I'm so proud of you!

    Congrats. I saw someone doing 12.5 before my class today and it's intense. I just started crossfit 2 weeks ago, so I'm still a ways off, but it sounds like you're going to be a strong competitor next year!

    Congrats on even attempting it! I am not a comp athlete either, but I have tried a few of the OPEN WODs, I refuse to try this one though- C2B is so not happening!
