Advantages and disadvantages of walking one's errands

Friday, March 23, 2012

I just made a lovely little trip to my neighborhood shopping area. In about 40 minutes I was able to get in 30 minutes of walking, drop off a library book, pick up some wine, order flowers for a friend, and buy stamps. The bonus was I ran into a neighbor heading in the same direction for a baby present, so we walked together and had a nice chat. That wouldn't have happened if we'd each driven.
The downside is that I suppose if I had been in a car I would not also have stopped at the coffee shop for delicious scones to bring home....

Sounds like a good trip. Chatting while walking makes for a quick workout. I live in the country, so it is too far to walk while running errands.

I guess I'm dropping by my fall buddies' pages to put closure on our awesome fall challenge chat and also doing the blog LTGL 5 blog responses. I really enjoyed our chatting so will hook up on the winter challenge chat. I see, LOL, you haven't posted a blog since last year either - or any way - I can't see one. Have an awesome weekend!

Hi and thanks for adding me! I walk to do errands all the time, in fact I'm off in just a bit to combine a grocery trip with returning a library book. I carry my groceries on my back and this limits my impulse buying...
Stopping at Starbucks is not a problem as long as I limit myself to the Short Skinny Caramel Macchiato! emoticon emoticon

Sounds like a pleasant outing, and you got some exercise in. Friendly chats are good for the soul. I agree with BOOKS_CATS_TEA's comment.

Sounds like a nice day and if that is the worst of the trip, then it was a good trip. Unfortunately most of the people I know don't enjoy walking so I rarely see someone I know when I'm out walking.

As far as downsides go, that doesn't seem to be an all that horrible one :)

Lovely! Unfortunately I do not like in an area like Monroe St, Willy St, or downtown/State (I live on the far west side) so do not generally run into people I know, but I do love to walk or bike ride for errands. Glad you had such a pleasant morning. :o)

it's nice to be in that sort of neighborhood. where I live its a long walk to nothing much but a mall. I hope you enjoy the downside as much as you did the up!

I'll expect the flowers any time now.... emoticon
