A shock to learn....

Thursday, March 22, 2012

I now have high cholesterol. A few years ago it was perfect, right within the normal range. Now I find it has doubled.
Not knowing much about this, I went on line. What an eye opener it was to me. So, out goes a lot of my favourite foods, so, now I will have to fnd substitutions for flavour.
So, in 2 months, I go back after taking the medication. Love the side effects he mentioned. Could turn jaundiced or have severe aches.
Ah, the wonders of modern medicine.

Gotta go to work now. emoticon

As Jackfat2 says it is not always your diet. Our bodies make cholesterol and some people make more than other. My husbands family all have high cholesterol and have to drugs to help keep it lower. Some foods do help to lower it and regular exercising helps as well.
If your muscles start to ache to not hesitate to call the doctor and tell them as there are other drugs out there.
Good luck.

You don't necessarily have to give up delicious and tasty foods! Like eggs or bacon for example. You may not realize but there is a large community of people who believe that eating cholesterol does not lead to high cholesterol levels, and even that cholesterol levels don't necessarily mean something bad for you health. Check out marksdailyapple.com if you want an easy to understand explanation (although not always logical) of this way of eating. Look into something dubbed 'Paleo' and the works of Loren Cordain and Robb Wolf (Robbwolf.com is my personal favorite) for more on this topic. Hope you feel better!
