Rainy day whine

A couple of weeks ago I signed up for the half marathon at the end of April. Training has been going good until this week. It's been raining all week and I don't like running indoors. My hips don't like running on the treadmill. Walking is fine but not running on it.
I ran on the Y's indoor track Monday. It was crowded. I loose track of how many laps I've done. Even trying to use a counter, I loose track. I start thinking about other things and forget to add the lap. I do so much better outdoors. Time passes by faster.
I will be happy to run outdoors again. Maybe Friday.

Hope the weather has improved and you can get to run outside.
Give yourself a huge for going to the Y, despite the problems in monitoring what you've done, many folk would use the bad weather as an excuse for not doing anything!
When we're making long term changes, its not just about how far we've run, how many minutes of exercise etc its the fact that despite potential barriers we've got up and done something. I've had a fair few times of late when because of health reasons I haven't been able to exercise, but I've seen it as a real positive that the fact I can't do those things bothers me (six months ago exercise wasn't part of my life, so not being able to do it wouldn't have registered for me!).

I lose track of laps at the Y, too. I've tried that before.

I never get any notices of blogs you write. Maybe you have your settings that way. I am envious that your Y has an indoor track. I have looked for one in private gyms and public ones and there is not one within 1 hour away. I would like to use it at night as I don 't like gym machines.
Hope the marathon went well, I know this blog is a couple months old.

I have gone from the elliptical, to running on the treadmill, to running on a soft track to running outside. I have to say, running outside is my favorite--BY FAR! I was running at my gym on their indoor track, and there was AT LEAST 20 other people running/walking with me. I didn't think it would bother me, but I couldn't focus, and I had to run around the other people, so, I was running faster than my normal pace. Which means, I also couldn't finish my usual 4 mile run because I was out of breath by mile 2.5 Grrr...I usually get up at 4:30 so I can get to the gym, so I can AVOID people, but not today.
Oh well. I'm training for a 5k in 3 weeks, but like Scarlett would say, "Tomorrow is another day..."

I really know what you mean. I ran partly outside on Tuesday, but finished at the Y as I was getting really wet. Then inside yesterday. And now today, I had to cross train as I have shin splints!!! We need the rain here, but. . . Hopefully the weekend will be good for our long runs!
