What's the secret???

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

I wanted to ask all my amazing spark friends who have been extremely successful on this journey, what do they think the key was for you to maintain your motivation?

I know that we all fall off the wagon, but some of us stay off the wagon for WWWAAYYY too long. I have been trying to get to the mid 160's for over 2 years now. It just don't take that long to lose 25 lbs.

What were the key factors that made you keep going and keep pushing????

I think all you are emoticon!!! I don't want to fall of the wagon and stay off for months and then next thing you know it's September and there goes another summer where I put all my clothes away that I swore I would be able to wear THIS summer.

emoticon emoticon's!!!!

ive gone off track many times..sometimes way longer than others and frankly it scared me 'back on track' because i dont ever want to go back to...wearing ugly clothes because thats all there is in big sizes, the unnecessary sweating from wearing too much on hot days (shorts and tanks were TOTALLY out of the question in public), feeling yucky being fat and most of all the low self esteem, self consciousness and bad self image was the pits.

seeing the improvement in my health (inside and out), wearing clothes that not only look good and fit nicely but expresses who i am, and loving who i see in the mirror has helped to get me back on track too. ive been wanting to lose at least another 10 lbs for almost a year but in truth i havent struggled....just not giving my all because i kinda like where i am at this time. in time, i'll be on it again.

all the best sis...its a fact..we can 'do' whatever we put our minds to. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

One day at a time. It's a lifestyle, not a "diet". You don't have to be perfect-- you just have to do better. Set yourself up some streaks, and reward the hell out of yourself.

Personally, I feel the "key" is making it your LIFESTYLE. Not a diet, not an exercise program, YOUR life! This is what you do and how you do it and that becomes your style. Sure, you are going to have less than perfect days, but you just keep striving for that daily lifestyle. I am still striving myself!

The secret is NEVER give up. We all have bad days where we eat too much and that's okay as long as you can jump back on the wagon.

Yes, as Tryingtolose64 said, take it one day at a time! Start today, and do your best to make it a successful, healthy day....and that will help you to do the same tomorrow. I am on day 20 of my streak. I can't tell you how many false starts I had, but I am finally there and seeing progress. You will too! Just don't give up.

Take one day at a time!! If you fall off the wagon don't beat yourself up for it, just get back on. Each day is a new day and it's a fresh start, so you start at zero. Accept no excuses because as soon as as you start accepting them you defeat yourself. If someone tries to sabotage you, use their comments to make you move forward to be better. Because unlike their bad behavior that they aren't willing/able to change you CAN do something about your physical self.
