Updates on my Recovery

Monday, March 19, 2012

Things are coming along. I no longer use my immobilizer boot for day to day activity. I can usually walk some distances without a limp now. I still use the boot to exercise in after finding I'm not quite ready for Coach Nicole's 28 day DVD. I purchased it and Just Dance 3 from Kinect and was eager to start something new. I found I'm not quite ready for prolonged balancing on one foot and strained my other ankle. SHEESH! Not to worry, I just did some fruit ninja in the chair for a couple of days and am back to dancing now!

I've also been shopping for clothes for my transition into the office. It is going to be a process over the next couple of months until I'm oriented and my old job is covered. Anyway, I purchased another size smaller in clothes and can even fit into misses XL. Wow, it has been a long time since I could fit in that size, maybe 23 years.

The scale has also been in a holding pattern. I know it is reflecting some of my inconsistencies. I'm not as militant about tracking and my food choices. I have finally gone above the "red line." I'm not worried, I just have room to improve.

Also summer has come to Iowa early. We have been in the 80's the last couple of days and everything is trying to bloom in MARCH! That doesn't happen here. We usually have snow up to April. Last year, I snapped a picture of snow on April 16th. So the mad scramble for spring/summer clothes also ensues! Yes, I am wearing shorts and I haven't worn those for YEARS as well! Yes, I happen to have legs, who would of thunk it???? LOL!!! emoticon

I'm so glad to read this and hear about your increased mobility--it's been a long haul, girl! Wearing shorts in March--unbelievable. With my knee replacement scars, I'm a capris girl, and I am definitely wearing them. It's 75 right now! LOVE IT! Just keep getting stronger. Thanks for your inspiration.

sounds like you're doing great! how fun to be shopping for shorts and showing off your new-found legs! Dancers legs too I bet.

Glad to hear you're doing well on recovery and transitioning to the new job.

Yikes on 80's already. We're not far behind with temps in the upper 70's lately, but that can happen here and then snow next week - although snow isn't forecast. Anyway, enjoy the warm weather as much as you can!
