WISHING you a rainbow
for sunlight after showers...Miles and miles of Irish smiles for golden happy hours...Shamrocks
at your doorway for luck and laughter too, And a host of friends that never ends Each day your whole life through.
I am Irish and proud of it and always celebrate the day. My grandparents came from Westport in County Mayo and we still have family there. I also have a SIL that is from Dublin, Ireland and all of his family are there, so he goes home to see them often and they come to the USA too.
Lots of music, singing and dancing filled my childhood and I cherish all the great
The wearing of the green and remembering my heritage has blossomed into my family and siblings over the years. We go to the parade, sometimes to mass, if the little ones are able, and usually have family gatherings. Corn beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots are high on the list of food for the day. Irish soda bread, homemade, tea, beer?..or wine..?.. and sometimes hot cross buns too. All very fattening....lol....
I guess it is only one day to celebrate and we do have fun. Good fun!!!! So, whether you are Irish or wish you were, enjoy the day dear Spark friends and always remember your heritage.
May the roads rise to meet you,
May the winds be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand!
