Getting close my goal...

Friday, March 16, 2012

I have been overweight for most of my life.

I have tried many diets over the years, some with little success, others with none. The grapefruit diet?? Who dreamed that one up? YUCK!!! I made it one day on that one, maybe because I HATE grapefruit?

Weight watchers worked, until I stopped going.

Medical Weight Loss Clinic worked, until I couldn't afford to go any longer.

In February of 2011, I started a program with Sparrow Weight Management Center, and am happy to report I am almost down to my pre-pregnancy weight for my son, who is now 12 years old. emoticon

In December of 2009, I weighed in at my doctors office at 344 pounds, and was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and had pain in my knees and hips.
I started a new food plan to control the Diabetes, and in 2 months I had lost 20 pounds. That is where I fluctuated, for a year, before starting the program at SWMC.

I weighed in on the first day at 329 pounds.
I was in a program to satisfy requirements for my insurance company to qualify for Bariatric Surgery.
I learned so much, and got into an exercise routine, that helped shed some pounds, so that, when I weighed in on the day of my surgery (November 21, 2011), I weighed 299 pounds. (My goal was to be under 300 for surgery).

In the past almost 3 months, I have lost 63 pounds, and gone down 4 pant sizes and 4 shirt sizes. I am 37 pounds away from Onederland!!

I started attending college in January, and am attending 2 exercise programs through the college, and feel AMAZING!!

I see my reflection in the doors as I approach entrances and don't even recognize myself.
I get frustrated that pants I just got into 3 weeks previous are falling down, but that is OK, it shows me, I am still going in the right direction, and I can feel my body tone is better than it EVER has been.
I can now walk for miles, without knee or hip pain, and I do not get winded or tired out like I did before my Journey began.

I know I did the work, but I have to give a lot of credit to the great people who work for SWMC, without their continued support, and the support of my family and friends, I wouldn't be where I am right now!
