Off to Hawaii!

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Tomorrow morning I leave for 12 days in Hawaii. We arrive in Honolulu about 3pm totally exhausted after leaving home at 5:15am my time, which is 6 hours different than Hawaii. We board our cruise ship about noon on Saturday and cruise the islands for a week. After docking back in Honolulu we then spend 3 nights and 4 days touring Honolulu. The return flight is going to be torture. We depart Honolulu Tuesday night at 8:55pm and fly to Salt Lake City. From SLC we fly to Minneapolis/St. Paul and then finally into Raleigh, getting home at 5pm on Wednesday. I know I will be wiped out, and to top things off, the very next morning I will be leaving for a Storytelling Festival in Laurinburg NC for 2 nights and 3 days! Fortunately, my roommate for that excursion is willing to drive, so I only have to get to her house. I envision sleeping all the way down to Laurinburg. It's only about 2 hours or less, but I'm grateful that I won't be behind the wheel so soon after such a long haul series of flights. And in light of the awful weather and declared disaster areas of the Islands, I fully expect that if we do manage to get off the ship, we may be handed a broom and be asked to aid in the cleanup!

You're a glutton for punishment planning two trips back-to-back but I'm sure the cruise itself will be relaxing and enjoyable. I've been to Hawaii about 9 times and enjoyed each one, and have seen many of the different islands.

Have fun, take photo's, use the stairs! (and the gym -- haha)

Bon Voyage and hope the flight back won't be as traumatic as you think.
I can appreciate it because that's exactly how we always travel, either from Australia to Europe /USA or on the way home. It often takes up to 40 hours from the time you leave your home to the time you arrive at your destination!
Have a marvelous holiday and hope the weather is very kind to you. emoticon emoticon
