Wow, people still do step aerobics!

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

I just realized my profile pic looks lopsided. lol

The narrow left eye is from eye surgery, but I have no idea why my smile is crooked. I blame the lighting!

Did a 1 hour step aerobics workout today and can't remember when I last worked out for that long a time. It felt fabulous beyond words.

I googled for step aerobics 2011 and was surprised to find that a lot of people still do the step. I figured I might be one of the remaining few, with most having moved on to stair machines, but apparently it's still a popular (and cheap!) method of exercise.

While I was working out I watched episode 3 (iirc) of season 1 of The Biggest Loser. I love you Hulu! Seeing people much bigger than me jogging on a treadmill really made the step seem easy.

While I like that show, it seems ridiculously unsafe to lose 15 or 20 pounds in one week, and I think it gives the general audience unrealistic expectations about what is considered safe and reasonable weight loss.

I am one of those who still has a blast doing Step!! It's the music, keeps me from feeling like I'm working out. And doing the moves makes it feel like dancing. I too, dislike the Biggest Loser for the same reasons that you do. Horribly unrealistic!!

Yep Jillian *is* awesome. It's a shame she left the show, but I'm not surprised their ratings sank. She didn't sugar coat anything, and I think being straight forward with people makes her more respected.

I heart Jillian Michaels. That's my reason for watching TBL.

I was doing aerobics back in my teenages and 20's.. Same stuff just more fancy names like Les Mills etc etc... Amazing give a old tradition a new name and younger people digest it like it is all new stuff lol.. I used to go to 3 classes a week and run alot.. Now I race walk and do strength training..
