Lately we've been eating out like it's going out of style and you all know what that means. Well, not all of you. I realize that some of you actually have the ability to walk into a restaurant, identify something on the menu that has very few calories, order it and consume it and enjoy that. Not me. I've tried, I have. I just can never FIND the low cal item and if I do it really sounds more like punishment than dinner. So for me eating out = weight gain. I know that and that's why I usually avoid eating out. Randy and I went out for dinner once recently and it just snowballed as we took a trip to Minn. Well, starting today, this feeding frenzy has come to an end and none too soon. Scale's up, jeans are tight and I'm not feeling the love anymore from my body.
I had a great time in Minneapolis. Randy's doing some work with Best Buy, improving the web site, blah blah blah, anyway, he goes there every couple of weeks. Which sucks so I went along this time. I got in some good workouts, mostly in the fitness center at the hotel, but still, it counts. The coolest thing I did was go see The Princess DI Collection at the Mall of America. It's something her family put together to share with her adoring fans the world over and it's basically a traveling tribute to her and her life. I'm not the biggest Di fan but yes, I watched her wedding and yes, I wish she was still alive so I'd have hair ideas and she had style you don't see very often. It was really amazing! They had her wedding dress! In a huge glass display case, with the 25 foot train and veil and everything. Her shoes (girlfriend had big feet!), her earrings, etc. Took up a whole room and of course they had footage of her arriving and the flower girls struggling to set the whole train thing right. And then they had stuff from her life like photos and her typewriter, stuffed animals, etc. But the best part was the room with the clothes. They had 20-25 of her dresses and outfits on display. Things we remember her wearing. They even had that hot little blue beaded cocktail dress. Pictures were not allowed but who am I to follow rules.
Yesterday Randy and I did penance and went on a long and difficult hike. Round Mountain outside of Loveland. Same place me and Veronica went together but she and I didn't get to the top. Randy and I did. It was 4.75 miles one way and up hill most of that. The sign said 2750 elevation gain and good thing we didn't read that going in. It took us 5.5 hours. I am soo sore today! Walking like an old lady. The temp was in the upper 50s but the path was alternately dirt, snow, mud, ice, slush, muddy slush, slushy ice, snowy dirt, dirty snow, etc.
