It's been long known to all my my friends that although I live in Las Vegas it's not my favorite place in the world. Despite that, I have to say - moving here has been nothing but good for us. In the 8 years we've lived here, we own a house (underwater at the moment, but at least it's relatively inexpensive and ours), I've managed to earn two degrees and follow my calling into the museum field, my husband has enrolled in a professional certification class to bolster his credentials in HIS new career. Together we make at least a third more than we were making in LA - and our cost of living is lower. We manage to do the things we want to do, buy the things we want buy, and STILL manage to put a decent amount into savings...
...BUT...I really do miss LA, it's my home and I feel like I "understand" the city and it understands me. Career-wise, the museum field is larger and more diverse, which could lead to more opportunities down the line. The quandry is...I just got called for an interview for a position in LA and really don't know what to do. We have a great quality of life here and I am NOT willing to move back to LA just to struggle again - but in the long run it might be the better move.
ACK!
