Week 4: Habits forming

Monday, March 12, 2012

I must say, it really isn't hard to get up and go to workout anymore. At first I had that internal dialogue we all have: You know the one....
Me: Do I REALLY have to go work out this morning?
Inside my Head: There are a million other things you can do instead.
Me: There are a million other things I can do instead
Inside my head: Yeah, your to do list is HUMONGOUS!
Me: Well, I could get caught up on (insert several tasks here)...
Inside my head: But I really should work out.
Me: Well, maybe I'll go this afternoon instead of now.

Inevitably, I didn't go, so.... I put it on my schedule- just like any other important appointment. Now, when my alarm tells me it's time for Zumba in 45 minutes, I get up get dressed, and DO NOT THINK!
I have found this to be the best way to do what I need to do, and in the past month, I have only missed 2 sessions- but have worked out (danced, yoga, dvd's... whatever- at least 5 days a week- mostly 6- which is my goal!

The habits are forming, and now I really look forward to the classes I attend. If something is going to conflict with one, I look for an alternative either on that day, or on my scheduled "day off" to make up for it.

NO EXCUSES! Not my foot! Not being tired, not "too much to do" Not.. "no time." We all have the same 24 hours in the day. Even if you work 10 hours a day- there are opportunities to exercise! Make it a priority and it WILL happen!
No one ever put on a tombstone "If only I had spent more time at work"....

Have a wonderful week. emoticon

I think I need that epitaph just so it can't be said "no one" ever did. Of course I'd be lying, but I don't think anyone's gonna come 6 feet down to tell me that.

But so true. When we don't even let the head games start, we just know we're going to go at such-and-such time, it's so much easier. And rescheduling is literally that - not saying "later" or "tomorrow", but setting a day and time to make it up.
