A few weeks ago I went to a chiropractor because my left ankle was hurting. It kept "clicking" and would feel like it needed to be popped back into place. He was able to click it back. It was stiff for a few days then better. I think I discovered the reason for the pain- I was running to close to the edge of the road so that ankle was constantly slanted down from the uneven road.
Anyways, the chiropractor said that my right leg was almost an inch shorter than the left, so he adjusted my legs/hips. Ever since then, I have had intense pain in the right hip area, and it travels down the outer thigh into the area of the femur about 3 inches above the kneecap. It was cause intense pain with any impact (jumping, running, sometimes even just waking!). I went back to him a few times after to see if he could "fix" it and he said that now that I'm in alignment I'd feel every time that I'm not.
I talked to one of the ortho drs at work (I'm a recovery room nurse), and he felt my hips and said they're in alignment, but that with my family history of arthritis we might want to do an X-ray and blood work to double check. I went away to a conference for church, and it ached the whole time (especially with all of that sitting!). Thursday was my first day back to work, do when I saw him I told him it was still really hurting. He ordered the X-ray and labs. So far, I have heard that the X-ray is ok, have not heard about the labs. (There was a while a few years ago that they thought I had arthritis in my hand from overuse at work. I had the steroid injections in it a few times and then I switched jobs and it really helped).
I have been taking Glucosamine, Motin or Naproxen, I was using an ice pack but have moved onto a heating pad, icy hot.... I'm trying to not take so much of the Motrin/Naproxen because my stomach had been hurting/burning and I think it might be from that. I've only run once in the past week and a half. I have done a ton of yoga and stretching. I did a few days of Turbo Fire, but the impact of the jumping was hurting so I had to modify everything.
It's feeling a little better today. I didn't wake up as stiff. It's tempting to just go full force and go outside for a run (the sun is out!) but I don't want to overdo it right away, either! I am planning on doing some P90X2 upper body today, give my hip a little more rest....
