Meeting GOANNA and Mom!

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Well it is extremely late and John and I just got home from the Hospital.

While Goanna was visiting me I get a phone call from Meals on Wheels that they can't get a hold of mom. Ten minutes later or there about I get a call from mom's case worker saying she can't get a hold of mom. I told her that her phone probably died and it now on the charger, Angela said she will drive on over to check in on mom since I am home and she is closer to mom.

After a while I get another call saying that mom fell again and is laying on the floor in the bedroom and can't get up.

What not again. Now what, my mind is racing with all sorts of scenarios. Thanks to Goanna she kept me calm.

So we ended up driving her to the Seabus and then drove off again in Rush Hour traffic to check on mom.

We met up with Angela and sure enough there was mom laying on her side beside her bed.

She had had a stroke. One look at her face and hearing her slurred speech I knew what happened. Angela called 911 and within five minute the fire rescue team and the Ambulance was there.

Everyone was so very kind and gentle to us and to our mom. Very professional and done with such speed that waiting fifteen minutes she was loaded into the Ambulance and I sat in the front seat, JOhn drove behind us to Vancouver General Hospital. After about an hour she was taken to a ward and after more waiting lots of nurses and aids and a med student came and went. Asking question to mom and both of us. Finally at 8pm she had her CT scan and at 9:30PM the Nero Assistant and the Nero Doctor(her boss) came in and spent another 20 minutes explaining what happen to mom, what they thought happened to mom and what will happen to mom.

She will have another CT Scan tomorrow, a chest exray (we think she broke a rib) She can't swallow right now but hopefully that will come back tomorrow.

So finally able to leave Hospital and to drive to a Restaurant for a meal, John and I haven't eaten since 10:30 am this morning and both of us ended up with headaches.

We should have gotten food from Tim Hortons or Subway but we did not think of fi at the time. To concerned and worried about mom.

I did managed to call my Step Dad and Aunt and tell them everything about mom. They in turned call my sister Kim and now Kim has told everyone that mom had a Heart attack on FB. Close enough Well that is one way to spread the news.

So now I am home I can't sleep and had to share my feeling with you all. (My Sparks Family)

OK now that is over I can now tell you about my visit with GOANNA.

We finally met and what a wonderful lady she is. She is amazing and so sweet, We had a great talk getting to know each other and it feels like I have know her for ages.

My brother John really liked her and sat in with our conversation. That was so awesome of my brother. I wanted him to share this visit.

I even showed her more of my Knittables and she was amazed at my work. I even show her my Weebly Web Page that I am still trying to design. Anna gave me some great tips.

Thanks Goanna for being here today, supporting me through another day with my mom and keeping me calm.

I just wished we could have had more time together. John and I were going to drive you back to Langley so that we had more time together, but unfortunately it didn't work out.

Tomorrow I go back to work it will be hard to focus on my job but I have to go in. I actually need to work to get my mind off my mom for a while. There is nothing more that I can do for her. I have to trust and believe in the Doctors and Specialist that they will take great care for mom.

I was also planning on posting the Meerkat pictures and a Picture of Anna and myself but I will have to do it later.

Well that sums up my day.

I just took two Tylenols and I am going to go to bed to try and sleep. Hopefully I will.

Please pray for my mom and please pray that we can now put her in a nursing home cause she sure aint going back to her place.

Time to pack up her stuff and get her moved. How we are going to do it I will worry about it another day when I can get my head to think clearly.

Sandraland is now closed!

emoticon emoticon emoticon I am so sorry to hear about Mom. Yes I agree it is time for Mom to be in a Nursing Home or Assistant living Home so she can have 24/7 Nursing staff to take care of her. Get some sleep or the headache will never go away. Prayers for all of you.

So sorry to hear about your mom. Glad that you were able to meet with Anna even though your visit was cut short. Hopefully the doctors won't release your mom to go "home" but to assisted living or a nursing home situation only. My thoughts and prayers are with your mom, you and John.

So good that you got to meet a fellow Sparker and that she was able to give you support during your visit. I have met a few Sparkers in person, and we have become good friends. They are always there for you! emoticon

So very sorry about your Mom. Its all too often falls for the elderly that have serious consequences. Her not being able to swallow sounds really bad :((( I hope she can recover her abilities soon. You are so right she should not be living on her own. I can't imagine family trying to notify others of an occurence like that using FB, that is really cold, and pretty stupid to get it wrong what happened too. What ever happened to the personal touch??
That was wonderful you and John enjoyed your visit with GOANNA2. Sorry it was cut so short, maybe she can come up again some time..
You and your Mom in my thoughts, soothing, healing and comforting.

Hello Sandra and John. I sooo enjoyed meeting you both.
Remember when we were talking and thinking about how
to find ways to get her into a nursing home? I mentioned
that there comes a time and place when everything works
out. This seems to be it. I was so sorry to hear that your mum
has had a stroke and that you were able to get her to the
hospital. Hopefully after yesterday's events, she won't disagree
to assisted living as she really needs care.
You are such a wonderful and caring daughter and both you and
John are doing a wonderful job helping your mother.
I'm glad we got to meet up. Have courage my friend.! emoticon

Don't worry about cutting my visit short. It was not a matter of
"cry wolf" this time and you made the right decision to go and check
on her. Thank you for your friendship and getting to know you. My
friend really liked your knittables and I will treasure my little mouse...
Talk again soon. emoticon emoticon
