Think I spent about ten hours today carting my ex around to all his appointments and running errands in general. It was definitely a comedy of errors today.
Last night, I had purged a couple of my cupboards and wrapped a couple of wedding present items - a glass coffee pot trimmed in silver, complete with matching tray (the kind that requires a tea candle to keep warm, like you would use at a fancy gathering, which means I've probably used it a total of four or five times in 30 years) and a heavy crystal ship-shape bowl trimmed in gold plating - both had been wedding presents and since I had no use for them, I asked Jerry if he wanted them. He gratefully accepted them. After all, they had come from members of his side of the family and since my daughter didn't want them, I would rather Jerry have them than giving them to Goodwill or something similar.
He had his other foot - the RIGHT one this time - operated on Wednesday. While waiting with him in the hospital waiting room, the head of the entire hospital sat with us for awhile and end up asking me to e-mail her my resume so she could let me know if she heard of an opening that I would fit. Unexpected and wonderful, but not holding my breath.
Today, I ran a quick errand to the store and bank before I needed to pick up my ex and take him for his follow-up checkup with the doctor BUT the check my mom had written me was done incorrectly so I had to call her on the way to get my ex and stop by her house for a replacement check.
Picked up my ex around 10:20, took him to the doctor...the wait wasn't too bad - about an hour in total. Then we head off to the one and only pharmacy that his insurance will accept and after waiting about half an hour (by now, it's noon), they told us they didn't carry that particular dosage. So they re-directed us to a pharmacy (just across the street, it turned out) and when we got there, they told us that particular dosage of medicine wasn't even available!
Well, by this point I'm starving because I hadn't eaten yet since there had been no time. So, Jerry calls his doctor's cell phone and left a message, telling her what had happened and I took Jerry back to his parents' house. He said his dad would probably take him to go back and pick up the prescription and I could go home and eat and catch up on some ZZZZZs. So, I take Jerry home and run by the bank again before heading home.
After feeding the cats and letting the dogs out in turn, I ate a quick bite and slept about an hour. Five minutes after I got up, Jerry called and said he had spoken with his doctor and she was going to meet him at the second pharmacy. (It was just easier for me to take him than for his dad trying to get his mom in the car. She's wheel-chair ridden and takes two hours every morning just to get her makeup on and dressed in the morning.) The doctor had actually written the prescription out wrong - and yes, this is the same doctor who operated on the wrong foot. I told Jerry I personally had to question her competency but that's another story.
We waited almost an hour at the pharmacy to get his first prescription then headed back to the other one. Now, they had had his prescription more than five hours by this time but we still had to wait around 45 minutes before it was ready! They said they had been backed up. Well, I would say so!
It was well after 6:30 by the time I got Jerry back to his parents' house. Jerry gave me some money so I could grab a bit to eat, which I did (and grateful I had fed the cats before leaving the house for the second time), let the dogs out again, then I crashed!
So two days were taken up chauffeuring my ex to his doctor and the two days I thought I would have to get some work done around the house instead got taken up with issues with my son and the dogs. (Long story)
Will be glad to go to work tomorrow so I can get some rest! LOL
