Goals

Friday, March 09, 2012

The week ahead in our SparkLive! class has us setting goals as one of the challenges. Since we are coming up to a change in season, I always revisit my goals around this time anyway. It's time to set some new goals for Spring.

Did you know that the number one predictor of success is the tendency to set goals?

Here are mine:

1) Fitness Related
I am exercising 300 minutes per week, walking or biking or swimming or whatever else I choose to use for cardio (snow shovelling counts too, but hopefully we will soon be over that part)! I am also strength training three times per week. I track this using the SP fitness tracker. My reward for hitting the 300 minutes per week is a Skype date with a Spark friend (sparkmail me with your Skype address - I will be needing a few).

2) Nutrition Related
I eat a healthy breakfast on a daily basis, and before I leave for work I have planned what I will be eating for dinner. I track this using SP's "Other Goals" section. My reward for meeting this on a weekly basis is $5 per week, to be placed in a jar and used for an article of clothing.

3) Personally Related
I spend an hour each weekend organizing my desk and office area in our basement. I track this using the SP "Other Goals" section. My reward is having an area that is clean and flat (no piles), and can easily be used for office work / sewing / scrapbooking.

4) New-To-Me
I am travelling to an event (like a 5k Walk) and meeting a Spark friend. My reward is the meeting itself, and friendships strengthened.

This exercise in goal-setting was so much fun! I am excited about these goals, and the rewards that will come with them. Did you notice that I wrote them as if I have already achieved them? That is part visualization - another favorite part of my SparkLive! meetings.

I lead classes on Monday and Tuesday evenings @ 8:00 pm EST and Saturday mornings @ 10:00 am EST. But if you can't make those times, there are other leaders on other days. These classes are really fantastic!

HI Therah Judi !!! I loved the idea of setting whats for supper ! (Dinnah LOL My GD and I ARGUE CONSTANTLY ovah what this is to be called,,,I mostly do this for FUN to watch this 16 yr old try to ASSERT HERSELF ! She needs MORE OF THAT !) I NEED to start at least one meal a day bettab,, than I'll automatically eat my oatmeal for breakfast cos the 5% challenge is starting up again,,,,,,and I'll WANT to lose the weight, worse thing they did was giving us 6 weeks OFF of being ACCOUNTABLE and perhaps for THOSE times, I SHOULD join another TEAM ! OH YEAH ! Hmmm that JUST HIT ME ! LOL SILLY ME ! While I "AM" on othah teams, they do NOT make you accountable, I'lkl have to LQQK AROUND for that huh?

Than i'll be lunch to eat whatever, but emotionally I am NOT satified with what it is, I've been doing.

TY SO MUCH for leadin gthe classes, ur doing a BANG UP JOB !! We CERTAINLY do appreciate it ! LOL THough we CAN be ZANY at times ! WOOHOOOO !!!!! No those meals will NOT include REAL Freggies, though I DID eat a thingie FULL of hummus, but thats NOT realky a "REAL" veggie, cos it was eaten with jaleapo chips ! WOOHOOOO !

LOVED ur goals, they are REAL FOR U !!! Now I gota remeber to do MINE ! I'll go and email myself something about this, and email MaryAnn a copy,,,,,,she's been sooo sick,,,,also so stressed, she can ALSO USE a copy !

You've inspired me to do the same.
The small rewards at regular intervals for incremental progress towards your goals is a great strategy. Thanks for sharing!

I have an appointment with a computer tech at the tech center and i am hoping he will teach me how to set up the live broadcast.
I registered at the beginning but never can get it to work so wish me luck I m so sick of my lap top shutting down on Spark. It will be good to do the live thing at least get to it anyway. Thanks Pat in Maine. Good goals by the way,

The rewards you have set are really great ones! especially the spark friends' meetings...

I *did* notice how you wrote the goals, and I love it.

I don't think I had to do a bit of shoveling this winter! Everything we got (which was only one snow!) melted by the afternoon... some snow!

I have another impetus for my goals, it is the start of a new year for me, as well as the spring. Thanks for the reminder, and inspiration.

These are great goals, I like how you worded them as if you are already doing them.

I went on line to the class you teach on Sat. morning and it says that it is at 8 am CT (where I am) which would be 9 am where you are. Is this wrong? thanks,
Ravyna
