The week ahead in our SparkLive! class has us setting goals as one of the challenges. Since we are coming up to a change in season, I always revisit my goals around this time anyway. It's time to set some new goals for Spring.
Did you know that the number one predictor of success is the tendency to set goals?
Here are mine:
1) Fitness Related
I am exercising 300 minutes per week, walking or biking or swimming or whatever else I choose to use for cardio (snow shovelling counts too, but hopefully we will soon be over that part)! I am also strength training three times per week. I track this using the SP fitness tracker. My reward for hitting the 300 minutes per week is a Skype date with a Spark friend (sparkmail me with your Skype address - I will be needing a few).
2) Nutrition Related
I eat a healthy breakfast on a daily basis, and before I leave for work I have planned what I will be eating for dinner. I track this using SP's "Other Goals" section. My reward for meeting this on a weekly basis is $5 per week, to be placed in a jar and used for an article of clothing.
3) Personally Related
I spend an hour each weekend organizing my desk and office area in our basement. I track this using the SP "Other Goals" section. My reward is having an area that is clean and flat (no piles), and can easily be used for office work / sewing / scrapbooking.
4) New-To-Me
I am travelling to an event (like a 5k Walk) and meeting a Spark friend. My reward is the meeting itself, and friendships strengthened.
This exercise in goal-setting was so much fun! I am excited about these goals, and the rewards that will come with them. Did you notice that I wrote them as if I have already achieved them? That is part visualization - another favorite part of my SparkLive! meetings.

I lead classes on Monday and Tuesday evenings @ 8:00 pm EST and Saturday mornings @ 10:00 am EST. But if you can't make those times, there are other leaders on other days. These classes are really fantastic!
